It’s worse than that.
Some people know that capitalism is the source of many problems, but have been miseducated into believing that Stalinism is the only form of socialism and communism.
They will usually come out with something like “Capitalism is the worst form of government, except for all the others that have been tried.” (a Winston Churchill misquote.) OK then, let’s try something that hasn’t been tried before, because the status quo is terrible right now.
