VW 1500 Squareback. My second car was the notchback version of that, the 1500S model with dual carbs, so it took a quick kid on a bicycle to outrun it. I remember the specs in the owner’s manual said “Maximum and cruising speed: 78 mph”. Manufacturers these days just don’t have that sort of confidence in their products.

I always liked seeing those square-backs as a kid. I thought it was a very attractive design.

My son’s Christmas present was an introductory flight in a Cessna, and he got to fly it over our house. That was fun, but afterwards we were wandering around the airport and saw a flying club practicing formation flying in vintage planes, and they let us get a close look at everything, including climbing around in their B-25.

I can’t imagine what the fuel cost is for flying those things for a couple of hours.

Wait, is that a powered high wheel ordinary? :exploding_head: Surely on the short list for the most dangerous form of wheeled transportation in history.

Limited operational suitability means that in order to avoid collisions, the reconnaissance drones would need an escort vehicle. “For example a helicopter or another fixed-wing aircraft,” says Urs Loher, director of the Federal Office for Armaments (Armasuisse). As the client, however, he assumes that Ruag will be able to programme it successfully.
