To those who haven’t had a chance to read Jalopnik’s latest, don’t skip (1) “3rd Gear: Consumer Reports gets political” (fucking new administration), or (2) Jalopnik on Brian Wilson.

A Company Wants To Build A Humongous Plane 100 Feet Longer Than A Boeing 747 With 12 Times The Cargo Space, And For A Very Specific Reason

Not to put too fine a point on it, but how does an article about planes that are specifically designed to ferry stuff that is very bulky (but in relation to its volume relatively light) not mention the Guppies and the Belugas?
(And maybe add a not to the original Hercules, arguably the granddaddy of them all?)

How will this stand with the FAA? The Windrunner’s seeming mission is to transport very long, very heavy cargo. Okay. But up front, Radia goes into how their aircraft can better serve the windfarm industry… but in the US? With Trump and Congress taking their cuts from the petroleum industry’s slush fund? It’ll be interesting to see what happens next. No blades allowed? Trump holding a bidding war?

Boeing Pulls Request For Safety Exemption, Decides To Make Planes Safer Instead

I wonder if Boeing did the trade on simply paying off the families of crash victims against the cost of making actual fixes with that reducing their liability when crashes do occur.
