I’m adding the spoiler tag because it has blinky lights, and I know we have a few that can’t do the blinky lights.
I like OK Go’s music and their videos are really the only ones I bother to watch any more. I’m a little disappointed in this one though; the use of time-lapse kinda takes away from the effect of the printers. The best bits were in real-time.
agreed. i suspect they had trouble with them all printing consistently together. it must be so hard for them to come up with new ideas, let alone executing them.
I was thinking it was more of an issue with the tempo of the song. Considering how long it takes to print one sheet, they would have had time in the song for about 36 sheets of paper to come out, which would have limited their creativity.
I’m not going to search for it, but - dollars to donuts - those printers aren’t printing anything.
Feed paper through the mechanism that has most likely been hot wired to do that one thing is what I’d wager.
hmm, good point.
I agree. Thought the speeded up parts made it feel like the paper shooting was not a real time event. Still, I liked the wires and how they used them and think it is crazy creative. Plus, a ton of printers printing all at once and not jamming or hanging up? That’s crazy talk.
It did look like at several points in the video they ended up with “stuck pixels” on the display, where everything else was showing a single new color but one printer was still showing the last one. It looked like they got cleared up in the (hidden) breaks where they also cleared paper from the floor.
I’m… not sure what I think of the song. Most of it is fine, but the opening and middle bits where it was just the main singer with minimal music sounds ever-so-slightly wrong to me for some reason.
Turns out the printers were indeed actually printing, and during the time-lapse bits, the guys had to move extra slowly and precisely. This was a hell of a thing.
i’ll be damned. knowing what we know from the amount of work that they put into previous videos, i guess i shouldn’t be surprised that they didn’t slouch or half-ass it when it came to this new video, either.
I think they just have song they recycle for all their videos. I can’t tell them apart.
