I saw an interview clip from the 1980s where, I noticed, Joseph Campbell was very careful to say “the hero or the heroine”.
Unfortunately, he never seemed to update his book to reflect that. And as it is, it skates by a lot of mythology that would have better illustrated the heroine’s journey. I spent a lot of time yelling “why leave out…?” when I read that book.
