Frida Kahlo was a Master Painter, herself.
RIP.
It took a woman to realize that understanding knot theory in physics is much more complex and useful if you don’t concentrate only on the ‘trade’ (male) knots of sailing and farming and instead look at knitting:
from 1885, knitted by Alexander Crum Brown

So my mom was a mathematician and didn’t know it?
Probably!
… Her team’s knit theory will incorporate these and other stitch morphologies, as well as intentional stitch defects and constraints, such as how a yarn bends, twists and compresses; how many plies it has, how thick it is, and how “floofy.”
Floofiness refers to a yarn’s “halo area, where ephemeral fuzzy fibers stick out,” Dr. Matsumoto said, and it changes the way two pieces of yarn interact with each other, their friction and energy exchange. “I’d love to write a paper using the word ‘floofy’ as a technical term.”…
I dated a math major who knitted during lectures, but lack the dexterity to do it myself.
Mom always wanted me to learn. She took it up when she was 13, so 1939. She also crocheted, and did both extremely well. So did my great-gramma Mardorf (Dad’s paternal gramma). And there was embroidery, which is very geometric if ya ask me, lol.
I love that her husband hyphenated to HER name. And I’m a big fan of her father’s work. His people are so real to me.
BIMBO - a philosophical analysis - YouTube
this video popped up in the eyeball zone; at time of the latest upload, Joanna only had 337 subscribers.
in this video, Joanna discusses French philosophers Simone de Beauvoir and Baudrillard and the anti-conformity philosophy of [sigh] the bimbo.
Joanna usually holds court on her twitch channel, and has more video essays planned.
This ends with a weird twist:
And after reading “King of the Gypsies” way back when, I think of them when I see the term “Bimbo”.
These guys are not “woke” or “enlightened” because they don’t seem to comprehend that their behavior is no longer going to be tolerated. What really befuddles me is the fact that they don’t seem to’ve ever considered the idea that they may’ve been found out.
Kinda nuts. Just went to the exhibit at the museum in Nashville and they had the Diego Rivera/Freida Kahlo exhibit. She was definitely the star of the show. Even though he was more popular in his time, I think is work is very of its time, and her work is transcendant.
Absolutely, I agree.
