No idea where to put this, but this is an endgame move here
This really points out why this presidency causes me so many problems. Our country is being run by 3 year olds.
And all the time Trump talks about how his relationships are so good, as if the basis of diplomacy should be how he personally feels about someone.
Cohen’s actions appear to be driven more by his outrage over the president’s indifference and feelings of betrayal — coupled with the personal and financial weight of the criminal case being assembled by federal prosecutors — than by a legal strategy to help his case.
In the level of business he was used to running in, I’m sure that’s true.
And it is a historical part of government – absolute government. Some of the major alliances of WWI were forged with a handshake in a palace’s private garden, with no treaty ever being written down and no vote ever being taken.
I know it’s similar in real estate. More than one law clerk has told me the really exclusive properties never go on the market and never have any mortgages.
I think he’s still playing for protection. If he was out for blood he’d be going on a tell-all circuit with the press instead of relying on plausible denial of leaked tapes. I expect him to ramp up slowly to signal to Trump he’ll leak the presidency-ending stuff if he doesn’t get protection.
I wish I didn’t feel so cynical about this, but I’ll believe it when I see it. I guess this is the attempt to fire him without making it seem like the president is firing him. The question is whether the leadership will move on it at all.
Led by the Toddler-In-Chief:
#freemelania
#Unfuck her.
Has anyone but me wondered if maybe Melania is having an Eleanor Roosevelt moment and it’s her that’s running the country? He’s clearly got dementia. She seems at least functionally at a 5th grade level.
I wouldn’t have thought the rest of the Star Chamber would let a woman do the job (especially one who’s posed for nude photos), but of course that assumes they know she’s doing it.
It’s a very interesting theory. It might even explain some of the infamous standoffishness from her to him that’s been observed in public – kind of like how the mother treated her husband in the Manchurian Candidate (the original obvs.).
That would require a level of respect for Melania amongst the other members of the government that seems unlikely.
But the underlying observation is probably accurate: Trump is senile, ignorant and uninterested in the detail of administration. So he isn’t actually in control of most of the government.
But the power filling that vacuum isn’t Melania, it’s John Bolton and Jeff Sessions and Mitch McConnell and the money behind them. Exxon running environmental policy, Monsanto running agricultural policy, Raytheon running foreign policy.
god. I really try not to look at the president. What the fuck. Why did he think this would be a cool picture?
This is a guy who thinks shouting “you’re fired” is cool. And, sadly, ratings have propped that idea up.
I wonder what is going on that she is staying despite the news about the Playmate and the porn star affairs. Assume she knew what she was getting into, but at this point, it’s all out in public. A few years ago, she could keep it all on the QT and down low.
A combination of greed and fear, I’d expect.
I’m sure she’s aware that she would be in danger if she openly defied Trump, but she is also not a passive victim.
He lacks the capacity for self-awareness. I doubt he even considered how it would look, cool or not. He was pure (Freudian) id at the moment that photo was taken, toddler-style. Or maybe not, I’ve met very young kids with better situational and cultural awareness that that motherfucker.
Edit: Or maybe he was filling diaper, because that’s what the face looks like to me.
