Oh, I know - it’s one of those tropes that says it really well.
And apparently, they started with him, though I think he got the idea from the way professors were portrayed in burlesque and/or vaudeville.

A basement in a building built on land in state known for swampiness is NOT a safe place for documents, far’s I’m concerned. But we can’t expect Rudy to be very smart any more, can we?
See, in Michigan, especially if you’re near a lake or river, this can be a problem, even if one lives 10 miles inland. Plus an overburdened sewer system that happens to be antiquated doesn’t help, either.
