Our Felonious Ex-President

“When I was researching this movie, I didn’t have to make, really, anything up. The real stuff was so weird and better than anything that I could imagine as a screenwriter. So I just tried, as much as possible, to write what actually happened as reported at the time.”

This is why Trump gets so much press. He is just so easy to write about in a way that gets eyeballs on him. And the crazier he is, the more the media rewards him with attention.

I really wish that they’d stop taking the bait. He’s not interesting; he’s weird.

He doesn’t care about you or your problems, he only cares about how your attention and money can serve him.

What I don’t get is, why this is happening now and not say, four years ago?

“This is not normal and feels nefarious and criminal”

Well of course, it’s a Trump rally. What else would anyone expect? That’s basically their tagline.

The entire timeline got fucked up by Clinton terrible campaign. She was supposed to be the one-termer and Orange Hindenburg was supposed to be bringing on a vigorous young VP to take over after the assassination. This isn’t actually the worst timeline, thank Loki.

Long story short, operatives from the worser timeline keep falling into ours.

Over the weekend, Mr. Biden visited Florida for a second time in just over the week to tour the storm damage…

Would Hair Furor have visited, or even though about, the affected areas? I wonder how many golf games he would have played?

And an article that popped up in the sidebar:

It sounds like Biden is being nice about it, but it would be nice to see all of TFG’s current protections revoked. “Nope. None for you. Sorry Donny, now get out there and reap what you have sown.”

He would’ve thrown them rolls of paper towels, silly!

Sounds like a recipe for several lawsuits to me, especially since they were playing video of the actual performances, and both Streisand and O’Connor have made their preferences clear.
(Edit): And Axl Rose, apparently:

(Edit 2): And he played “Hallelujah”, which has also been objected to… it’s as though they decided to rip off every artist who has been vocal about their music being used at his events all at the same time.

It seems like he was sundowning and his handlers just stepped in and turned on the music clips. He didn’t even seem to know that he was supposed to be doing. It was like when someone plays those old songs for grandpa in the nursing home that help to calm him down.

On Reddit, there was a person who posted that his father drove one of the buses for the Trump rally at “Coachella” (actually a manure farm near to the venue for the music festival) and that his dad, 70 years old, was a vet who had multiple brain injuries. MAGA crazies tackled him because of the issues with the buses and his family is just hoping that it didn’t cause more brain damage.

It is SO WEIRD how disorganized these rallies are, how clearly impaired Trump is, and yet so many people are willing to prop him up to get what they want from his cult followers, and the cult followers are so willing to overlook how wretched this all is because they want the illusion of a leader.

Is somebody really misremembering what “don’t have a cow, man” means? :stuck_out_tongue:

As for windows in buildings… it depends on the building. I happen to agree that Windows shouldn’t be in Datacenters, for instance.

Oh darn, here I was unfairly impugning his cognitive powers. Shame on me. :upside_down_face:

If I’m feeling generous in my interpretation, I’d guess it actually comes from the fact that cattle produce methane.

From wikipedia:

Animal agriculture is a similarly large source (30%); primarily because of enteric fermentation by ruminant livestock such as cattle and sheep. According to the Global Methane Assessment published in 2021, methane emissions from livestock (including cattle) are the largest sources of agricultural emissions worldwide[10] A single cow can make up to 99 kg of methane gas per year.[11] Ruminant livestock can produce 250 to 500 L of methane per day.[12]

It’s a right-wing talking-point in the same way that they’re constantly fear-mongering about shower heads, gas stoves, ICE cars, etc. There’s a semi-coherent thought that can be expressed about it, but he’s either incapable or unconcerned with doing so.

It should come as no surprise that the reactionaries are lacking in imagination when confronted by the idea that a thing they like (or think the common people like) might have negative consequences. From the same wiki article:

Reducing methane emissions by capturing and utilizing the gas can produce simultaneous environmental and economic benefits.[1][5]

I know the reality is unlikely to be quite this simple, but the point still remains that there is likely a different solution to the problem that cattle produce methane than banning cattle.

I always relate the song to Leonard Cohen.

According to Wainright’s statement, the Cohen estate has also sent a cease and desist due to this, though that’s not been confirmed by the estate.

It’s probably because his version is the only one I’ve ever heard.
