I suspect Wal-Mart gets more government handouts, but of course Trump’s gonna go for the guy who’s famous for selling books.

Hardly “sticking it to the government”… the Amazon - USPS alliance was negotiated and agreed to by both parties well in advance. This is the deal they made. Amazon didn’t just call up the USPS and say “hey, here’s 100 million more pieces of mail a year.” If the government negotiators aren’t Trump-like enough for himself that’s hardly Amazon’s problem. I do find it amusing that three presidents couldn’t get the US mail delivered on Sunday, but somehow Bezos was able to get them to deliver his packages. I feel like Trump wants to change the deal but doesn’t know how, so he’ll squawk about it and see what happens.

Happened to stumble on this last night, while looking at something else. Goes into the actual economics of the situation.
Naturally, since the USPS makes most of its money on package delivery, Trump would want them to drastically raise prices and push people towards other services. I’m sure he’s never laid eyes on a golden goose he didn’t want to slaughter.
(I’m sure there is some room for raising prices, but I strongly doubt Trump has the nuance to have any idea how much is too much.)
