A thread for a call to action for politics.
From Ned Stuckey-French:
Just got off a healthcare coalition call with Senator Schumer. His message:
- Grassroots pressure will determine whether this passes.
- They’re not seeing nearly the response there was to the House bill. That needs to change.
- It’s make or break this week. Unlikely McConnell will drag this on past next week because he wants to move on to tax cuts.
- The following Senators are wavering and need to be flooded with contacts:
- Heller is the most important (R-NV) (202) 224-6244
- Collins (R-ME) (202) 224-2523
- Murkowski (R-AK) (202) 224-6665
- Capito (R-WV) (202) 224-6472
- Cassidy (R-LA) (202) 224-5824
- Flake (R-AZ) (202) 224-4521
- Gardner (R-CO) (202) 224-5941
- Portman (R-OH) (202) 224-3353
- Cruz (yes, that Cruz - he’s facing a tough reelection battle) (R-TX) (202) 224-5922
- Paul (R-KY) (202) 224-4343
- Lee (R-UT) (202) 224-5444
- Sasse (R-NE) (202) 224-4224

And remember these brave souls who sat in at McConnell’s office and were arrested this week.

Is Cassidy really wavering on his own bill? I called my other senator and gave him an earful, but I figured with this being Cassidy’s bill, it wasn’t worth it.
I went ahead and called anyway to ask why he wants to give all of our poor-ass state’s Medicaid money away.
PLEASE call Heller. as a Nevadan, i can vouch for what a bootlicking, toadyish asshole he is. so far, even though our (republican!) governor has signed on with the other governors denouncing this bill, Heller is still toeing the party line. he’s trying to say that it will be good for our state, and of course it’s not true. any pressure on him is worthwhile. i can’t wait until 2018 when he re-election comes up. i’ve hated him for years.
You’ll never guess what Murkowski is being offered for her vote to repeal Obamacare.
It’s [drumroll] Obamacare!
Sincere or latest spotlight-hoggery, who knows?
who cares – his voice has a lot of weight. i’ll take it.
I’ll believe it when I see the vote. Unfortunately, he’s got far too much of a reputation at playing maverick before playing along.
well, hopefully, with his influence of coming out against it, it won’t even reach a vote. but yeah, the proof is in the voting.
Moore Capito will probably be #3 to declare against, if Collins doesn’t beat her to it.
