Puzzling Evidence

That sounds like it might actually be pretty good.

I tasted it once. That was enough!

isn’t Cynar also artichoke-based? i like Cynar, so this sounds good to me.

Yes, I think Cynar is what I tasted, but the image of the artichoke was not as obvious on the label, so I chose this.

You may think that, as liqueur goes, it’s art . . . I choke at the thought.

You can put cynar in a negroni and it’s not the worst thing

Typically, they don’t do it to perfectly fine whiskey. They use the rotgut and get a better profit margin on it.

Excuse me while I go have a wee dram of my peanut butter whiskey.

So are they gonna do to whiskey what they did to schnapps?

Cynar is also quite nice in a Manhattan. but it’s true, you gotta be into a bit of the bitter thing.

So you missed out on Mad Dog 2020, Zima, cheap Ice beers, and 89¢ 40s of eight-ball? Count yourself lucky. I can still remember the jungle juice from those days…can’t remember much else though.

Not M/D 2020, but yes on Zima and cheap Ice beers (remember Altes? Pfeiffer? Schlitz? And of course the hometown fave of Detroiters, Stroh’s!).

Eightball? Cheap quarts of beer yea, but what’s that?

8 ball=Old English 800. Apparently Olde English 800 was first known as Ruff’s Olde English Stout, but it doesn’t look like a stout. I don’t remembering it tasting like a stout, but I might have steered away, even in my college days.

I’ve been finishing a 12 pack of Danzig Baltic Porter which I originally bought to toast Biden/Harris. Eh, I’ve had better. At least it contains Porter (but also lager, which is weird)

That was it. ‘Malt liquor’, sold in 40oz bottles as a cheaper alternative to Colt 45. Definitely not a stout.

There was a store a couple of blocks away from my school that didn’t always card, so after school a bunch of us would meet up and pitch in to get a case of 40s and then hang out under the bridge or behind an abandoned building to drink until someone peed their pants or threw up. We had all the usual cliques and friend groups in school, but for that particular after-school activity none of that mattered and everyone was welcome. Fun times for a teen.

Oh, Olde English, lol! Yeah, but most folks were either Colt .45 or Mickey’s Malt Liquor.

I started on Guinness at age 13, same time I first tried pot.

Oh Edgerton. (was this him?) A techie god of Lamarr stature.

Yes.
I just thought it looked weirdly terrifying.
