Back in the early days of TV, the picture tubes were so small they used glycerin (?) filled lenses to magnify the image. My wife inherited one. They are not exactly optimum optically . . .
to make an 8" screen appear to be…8.5".

That’s a grave charge… one wouldn’t want to start up the Punnic Wars all over again.
(After a quick google search, I was somewhat surprised how often that misspelling seems to be used to refer to the actual wars )
I think the judge here is forgetting that if he’s charged, they’ll have to hold hearings to determine the pun-ishment. Including arguments over whether it’s too pun-itive.
The judge will probably punt it back to a lower court.
