There have been many updates since Bunjiwunji acquired dear Wexter, including some mighty keen Howloween costumes! Here’s a link to the most recentest post: bunjywunjy
wow, that took me waaay longer than it should have, which i guess is proof that i’m the right age group to get the joke, because memory tends to go as you age, right?
Remember, it is better to be rich and healthy, than to be sick and poor.
Lieber arm dran als Bein ab.
Just wondering how that’s funny?
If I remember that movie right, he’s about to shoot most of them.
Honestly? In the States, your life would be massively easier and better if you were a multi-millionaire with an amputation than homeless with all your limbs intact.
Those are the heroes of a different movie:
70’s NY is the most violent NY.
Gang members and a vigilante - more protagonists than heroes?
The Warriors isn’t exactly a realistic film and I don’t recall the eponymous gang being presented especially negatively, so yeah, unless I misremember I figure they qualify as the heroes.
It’s been even longer since I’ve seen Death Wish. I think a little critique of Paul Kersey’s vigilantism did sneak in there somewhere, but I kinda thought he was meant to be a hero as well.
ETA: Eh, I saw Death Wish once when I was a teenager. I retract everything about that one because my memory of then and my understanding at the time are both too suspect.
The image rubs me the wrong way because the Warriors are portrayed as vulnerable and in over their heads for the whole movie. They come out victorious in the end but are in constant danger throughout. Meanwhile, Bronson’s character (Paul, I think?) is treated as righteous, powerful and someone it was a terrible mistake for the villains to have ever messed with. Maybe not quite as much in the first installment, but by the sequels it’s practically like watching a slasher movie where the invincible killer is the protagonist. The power imbalance is uncomfortable. Bronson’s got plot armor that the Warriors lack.
