Nina Hagen rules…
My favourite of hers is “TV Glotzer”, which is technically a cover:
I don’t know if this has already been posted; apparently it came out about 4 years ago
For some reason the album “Remainders” by Gennaro Cosmo Parlato has disappeared. And is a pity because it was full of really amazing covers. The only track I can find is a low rez version of “C’est la ouate”.
Sixteen Tons is by Merle Travis, first recorded in 1946.
It’s just that Ford had a massive hit with it in 1955.
Southern Raised - 16 Tons
My favorite drum coverer covering one of my all time favorite songs.
99 Luftballons
I always love to play that song when I teach about the Cold War! The German version, natch!
I love Mary Spender.
I don’t think that’s ZZ Top, but just Billy Gibbons playing with Jeff Beck. That video is dated 13 years ago, and Dusty Hill was still alive then, but he’s not there, and that’s not Frank Beard on drums. After a little Googling, that was a performance from the 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concerts in 2009. Beck was an inductee earlier that year.
The German version zuerst; the English version nach.
(I’ll see myself out.)
Rescanned and looking fresh.
