Ok, now i’m wanting to watch the episode so i may need to action that. Maybe it’s because we are witnessing some absolutely terrible atrocities right now but that clip got me in a way it hasn’t before - would that some people felt that level of guilt in what they participated in.

It’s a really good episode, IMHO, and Yulin’s performance is amazing.

This ends up being a theme in episodes that deal with Cardassians, how do they square what happened during the occupation. They end up with some really interesting story lines for both the two main Cardassian characters, plus some of the one off characters, including dissidents and true believers.

The first season they are trying to find their feet, but they settle in by the time you get to that episode.

My Uncle Walter has died, on my father’s birthday (we lost him 6 years ago.) They didn’t always see eye-to-eye, and it became important that they were never drunk at the same time, but they were friends for close to 60 years. Walter introduced my parents to each other, and by all accounts became a third wheel immediately, because it was love at first sight for my folks.

And now they are both gone. I don’t much feel like working today, I’d rather be outside playing with the plants in the garden and maybe planting a tree. I like those things, and so did my father and Uncle Walter, who planted enough trees to turn an old cow pasture back into a forest.

You should definitely plant something in honor of them both, and if you are able to share stories about them with loved ones you could do so. Keep their memory alive :slight_smile:

I’m sorry for the loss of Uncle Walter.

I think that’s true for almost everyone, but I totally get what you’re saying.

I hope you are able to enjoy some time outdoors today.

I was down in little 5 points today, and there was a memorial thingie on Wax-n-Facts for the co-owner, Harry Demille…

@noahdjango! Did you hear about his passing? I talked with him at least a couple of times at the shop… what a nice guy and a knowledgeable music nerd.

I’m sorry for your loss. A memorial tree would be a lovely thing to plant in your uncle and father’s honor. Maybe a fruit tree so they keep giving to your family?

I’m so sorry. Planting a tree (or two) would be a lovely memorial.

All needed healing to you and yours.

Love the tree idea.

I didn’t shop there a lot, but a few times. I went in there looking for I’m A Man by Spencer Davis Group after hearing it on dj Andy Smith’s Document mix. one of the guys couldn’t locate it on the floor and went into the store room for a really long time and still couldn’t come up with it but you could tell he really thought he could find it. it was an older cat who knew the stock extremely well, so it may have been him. I really don’t remember what he looked like, though. it’s a great shop but almost all my record buying in Atlanta has been hip hop singles, so Earwax and the like got most of my money.

We do have a nice ecosystem for buying albums (on whatever medium) in ATL (W-n-F, Criminal, Wuxtry, Earwax, what’s the one down in Decatur?, etc).

It was likely either Harry or Danny most likely… I’ve talked with both a time or two over the years, but with Danny a bit more. That shop is really an institution in the area, for sure… Danny also ran DB records out of the back of the store back in the day. I got to go back there once and it’s a crazy storage situation with records just all over the place…

{I could cry, thinking abt long-gone Detroit-area record stores, both new and used.}

{As a girl, I wept in record shops.}
