RIP. We'll miss you

Not Leon!

That was my first thought - from what I’ve read about it, its “symptoms” are very easily mistakable for other things (headache, confusion), and there’s no tell-tale odor like the one added to natural gas supplies.

It’s certainly suggested by the AP article:

I was just going to post that article.

Something weird happened.

Hackman, 95, was found dead Wednesday in a mudroom and his 63-year-old wife, Betsy Arakawa, was found dead in a bathroom next to a space heater, Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office detectives wrote in a search warrant. There was an open prescription bottle and pills scattered on a countertop near Arakawa.

A dead German shepherd was found in a bathroom closet near Arakawa, police said. Two healthy dogs were found on the property.

That article was updated pretty significantly after I read it. Those details were not in the original report. That seems more suspicious than initially reported, but details in isolation can appear more important than they actually are. Hopefully they can determine the cause and provide some closure.

Right? I feel so irrationally saddened by this.

With all the terrible things that have been happening in the world, these occasional videos of someone’s “rescue lobster” being rehabilitated and thriving in a home aquarium was a tiny bit of joy I could look forward to.

We probably can’t save the whole world, but it means the world to the ones we can save.

Leon was lucky lobster. He might not have survived any longer in the wild.

Aw man… I knew he’d had health issues for a pretty long time.

I also appreciate that the NYT published a SEPARATE obituary for Betsy Arakawa, which mentioned in passing that she was married to Hackman.

Good. I was looking for one, but couldn’t find one.

Sad news! Was just coming to post that…

Side note… this pic from the collection there…

Did Lou Reed ever look happy? Maybe when he was with Laurie…

I seem to remember her portraying some happy times they had in her film Life of a Dog.
