And here he is holding the guitar he used for the James Bond theme.
I would not have guessed it was a hollow body from 1939.
I still think Danbert Nobacon had the right idea.
Artist, author, librarian and (most famously) restauranteur Alice Brock, the titular heroine of Arlo Guthrieâs anthem âAliceâs Restaurant,â dead at 83. Sounds like she remained close to Arlo and his family to the very end. The song is going to feel a little different this ThanksgivingâŠ
Trivia: The SpongeBob song âRipped Pantsâ is a secret tribute to The Beach Boysâ âBe True To Your Schoolâ.
Sad day!
âI was a champion welder, but now Iâm a Rosie the Riveter,â she said, adding with a laugh, âHowâd I get to be a riveter?â
Indeed. The same question was being asked at the time by Wendy the Welder, Jane the Janitor and Addy the Accountant.
I knew Wendy the Welder was a contemporaneous character with Rosie the Riveter but I hadnât heard of Jane or Addy before, were they part of the so-called âGovernment Girlsâ lineup too? Google is remarkably unhelpful with that kind of thing these days.
I was joking, didnât know there actually was a Wendy the Welder.
Gotcha. I thought you were referring to some other part of forgotten/erased American history I hadnât heard of.
Your joke was right on the nose because thatâs exactly what happened! Rosie became the most famous personification of the womenâs wartime production movement because she was the one who had a Norman Rockwell illustration on the cover of The Saturday Evening Post. Soon the other characters like Wendy the Welder were forgotten and women like Lucille McDonald were being called âRosiesâ regardless of occupation.
So sad to hear of her passing.

He ushered in rule changes that led to more women and minorities as convention delegates and in leadership positions.
We should all be Alison.
He was also a Liverpool fan, and lived to see all but two of Liverpoolâs major trophy wins so far.
