Triffids!!!
…and so I said, the one that got away was this big!
“I’m back bitches!”
Edit: Other ones:

“He is risen”

“The Aristocrats!”
Jazz hands!

Swastitruck looking worse than a 5-year-old low-end minivan with 150k miles on the odometer:
The duct-taped side mirror is a nice addition.
The owner of this particular vehicle regularly parks in the spaces assigned to a neighboring business instead of the ones assigned to his place of employment. Classy AF…
I would hope someone made it their mission to get him towed every time
Literally being held together with duck tape.
I wish… employees aren’t getting paid enough to deal with the level of assholery involved.
That’s awesome
We’re getting retaining walls in our front yard rebuilt. This was the view yesterday after I got home from work:
And this was the view a few minutes ago:
…they hit the gas line.
Contractor is saying it was improperly marked. It was marked on the sidewalk, but the paint didn’t go up the hill, unlike the water pipe. (I would have known where the line was vaguely, but by this point the sidewalk markings were either so covered in dirt as to completely obscure the markings, or they’d been abraded off.) This is apparently the 5th time in 26 years it’s happened and it’s been improper markings each time.
The gas company was wanting to replace our old line anyway, it’s just we were something like the millionth customer in line for it. They’re replacing it now.
Good to hear your lemons turned into lemonade.
I got to the 2nd picture and told myself “They hit the gas line”. It happens unfortunately, especially older services can sometimes be harder to locate accurately but contractors also can be pretty careless when digging up a yard.
Some additional things:
-
How is the gas getting to the house when it gets replaced? Is the gas meter an underground curb meter or do y’all have meters up against the house? Will it be routed going through the retaining wall? It can be done but then the line would need to be installed crazy deep, which can make tracking future leaks difficult.
-
If the meter will be at the house I would guess the gas company will want to route the new yardline through or next to your driveway. Closer to the house is always better for the homeowner as you’re less on-the-hook for leaks downstream of the meter. Plumbers are lousy when it comes to tracking leaks that are underground vs inside a structure.
