“Parthenope” was the original Greek name of Naples in the 8th century BCE, and the name of one of the Sirens of Odyssey fame (who mythically founded Naples). There was also a cheesy 2024 film of the same name.

Everybody in the Great Lakes region especially Lake Erie, and Lake St. Clair are familiar with these buggers.
The first one on our car early this morning.
Google Fishfly or Mayfly swarms to be grossed out if you’re not familiar with them.
In about a week everybody turns off every outdoor light they possibly can. They last for a few weeks.
Getting gas at night is fun.
Businesses use leaf blowers and snow shovels to clean them up.
Driving at night becomes a challenge and our job of washing giant boats becomes a royal pain.
The hatches are so large doppler radar picks them up.
I’ve been in our boat at night in a middle of one of those hatches. Safety glasses are necessary if you you stick your head over the windshield.
But, the larger the hatch the healthier the lake.
The last photo is a freighter entering on Lake Erie during a hatch, it’s what your house will look like if you leave a light on.
