Sugarloaf mountain?

Yes. This is the Botafogo Beach, the Urca Peninsula on the right with the Urca Hill and the Sugarloaf. The Photo was taken from the rooftop of a shopping mall.

Santa had time for lunch @ Waffle House

I love how the inside of a waffle house could be any waffle house… I mean, I know that’s how all chain places are, but for some reason waffle house feels different…

How’d you get your hashbrowns? Hmmm… scattered and smothered…

This one was on the smaller side, just the basic rectangular footprint (IIRC most of them used to be like this - so perhaps even more to your point).

… & covered & diced. :yum:

more WH personal history

When I first went into IT work (1996), I was in another city for the 1st month, & I could expense the meals. There was a Waffle House next door to the hotel & I ate there almost every morning for that month. My weight never really looked back (it’s only the past year or so that I’ve meaningfully moved that needle at all)… So after that, it’s something that I only do every few years. (It also happened to be my 2nd cup of coffee in about 6 or 8 weeks, but that’s another story…)

In the 19th century, coffee and sugar cane plantations devastated the forests surrounding the city of Rio de Janeiro. This environmental catastrophe took its toll; the inhabitants were left without drinking water, as the springs dried up without the protection of the trees. To solve this problem, Emperor Pedro II ordered that the forest be replanted, and so Major Archer and six enslaved men planted sapling after sapling for years on end. Today, this area is the Tijuca National Park. This statue is a tribute to the anonymous men who restored nature.

I don’t think this banana is edible.

We like to walk on college campuses on weekends and holiday breaks. No cars, few people. We went to the Claremont Colleges (Claremont McKenna, Pomona, Pitzer, Scripps, and Harvey Mudd) for a nice long walk amongst the tree-lined streets and college buildings. It’s at the bottom of the San Gabriel Mtns in one of the toniest (and far eastern) towns in Los Angeles County.

I like the kids of Pitzer!

That looks familiar. Is that in Stockholm? if not maybe its reminding me of a particular building i recall seeing.

Not long ago, someone gave me this strange-looking plant as a gift:

It’s purple, and even though I’ve watered it and made sure it gets light, it hasn’t grown. Now every time I look at it, Da-Doo runs through my mind.

Does the tag tell you what kind of plant it is? But speaking of purple plants, I was at Home Depot recently and saw this plant

It’s called a purple passion plant. Looks pretty neat, I bought two. One for me and I’ve for my boss who loves purple colored things

Unfortunately not. After searches based on how it looks, I think it’s a Purple Hyacinth. Yours does look very cool! :+1:t5: My last plant with anything purple was an African Violet.
