So... Patreon?

Continuing the discussion from Capitalism means liking nothing:

I had been considering using Patreon to help with the costs of this place, once other organizational hurdles are taken care of. Given the announcement, and the backlash to the announcement, should I look into alternatives?

I’d be curious what this Kickstarter Drip thing will be.

As per the other thread, I’m not opposed to the Patreon changes, and I don’t think there’s a better option.

I say it’s a choice we have now that you can set up easily and we can give you money back that you deserve. It’s going to take a small cut. It appears we can think wisely about what we donate to make sure you get as much as possible. It’s not perfect but what is. I say let’s lock and load. We can always explore more and better options meantime. It’s not like we are some massive behemoth where every decision will take years to trickle through all the layers of intricacy.

In my case it’s earmarked and waiting, I just need a mechanism.
