So a transphobe beat a transphobe?

Non-transphobes aren’t allowed within sight of the people who work for the people who work for the people who vote for the people to be on the shortlist for the job.

If club not sold by May 4, the 154-year-old institution faces disqualification from EFL.

It’s not the outcome that I want, but it might keep Carlisle in the EFL.

It wouldn’t be the first time they survived that way, Aldershot folded in the 1991-92 season meaning there was no relegation.

I misread director as doctor, and thought with that name he was never going to be a popular physician.

When the story of Robinson’s emerged that his tribute was changed to a blank page with the marker “DEI” emerged (baldly now the new "n-word) it provoked an angry outcry aimed directly at this administration’s repulsive , hateful politics. This rage deepened when the DOD’s retort to every reporter from ESPN to The Progressive was a cut and paste straight out of the world of fascist podcasts and youtube shows: a world that accused rapist and convicted dullard Pete Hegseth knows all too well. They said that celebrating Jackie Robinson was an example of “cultural marxism”*** (two words, neither of which Hegseth could define). People weren’t trying to hear that weird nonsense and the DOD buckled like a belt. Please remember that. When far right wing freaks actually say what they think, it’s gross, it’s strange, people recoil and when we get angry enough, they back off. Like bullies, they only project strength when they think we’re weak.

Jackie Robinson once said that when he sees an American Flag decal on a truck he knows that “that person is not my friend.” Pete Hegseth is “that person.” These are the kind of people who would have kept Jackie Robinson out of Major League Baseball and when we see the tattoos on Pete Hegseth’s body, we know that he has picked a side, and it isn’t the side of Jackie Robinson or anyone committed to anything except the tedious posturing of white supremacy.

*** worth adding that “cultural marxism” has long been identified as right-wing code for Jewish conspiracy. especially in the darkest corners of far-right media and Nazi message boards. As an antisemitic slur, it long predates both all the way back to the Germany of the 1920s when a rising Adolph Hitler denounced the “cultural Bolshevism” of leading German artists. Shocking that it would be used in 2025 in this context and yet another example that this is an administration of antisemites and trusting them to “fight antisemitism” is utterly obscene.***

Keep watching, keep paying attention. I honestly expect these pages to be memory holed again when people are distracted by something else.

In a recent memo, the issuing of which was reported by Reuters, Iran was listed among 41 countries that would face partial or complete bans on citizens entering the United States by the Donald Trump administration. Iran specifically is listed among a group of 10 countries, including Afghanistan, Syria, Cuba and North Korea, that would be set for a full visa suspension.

Venezuela also look like they could qualify. I honestly expect Trump to attempt to fix the draw so they end up in the same group as Iran and Venezuela, before refusing visas to both teams so that the USA qualify for the next round by default.

In less eventful news:

Tricky. FIFA are so experienced at corruption that they could teach even the Donvict a thing or two; they’ll expect hard cash up front to even consider doing anything, not empty promises.

Sounds like something he’d do, but I’d be surprised. Given how relatively unpopular “soccer” is among his white bro base (and how much he probably sees it as a sport for “sissies”), I’d guess he won’t bother.

Huh, didn’t know he played the game.

I’d guess he’s changed his tune by now (as he has on say, abortion), but maybe not, especially if he thinks he can parlay some of the game’s increasing popularity in the US into attention for himself.

He probably sees the World Cup in the same way that Mussolini saw it in 1934 and Videla saw it in 1978, as a way to distract people from his atrocities and promote the idea of racial superiority.

The US mens team is not Italy or Argentina though, They aren’t even Denmark in the 1992 Euros or Greece in the 2004 Euros. It would be incredibly suspicious if they won the tournament.

Home opener in Detroit is a religious/state holiday.

Our daughter and her husband are in the stadium, it’s 42 degrees.

And, for us the benefit of living on the water near a National Guard base is we get to see the 4 jets flying low over our house on the way to the stadium flyover. They take off and take a leisurely loop to burn up my tax dollars so they can hit the mark when the National Anthem ends.

At least for next couple hours life is good.

The first photo is from the Tigers.

And new for this year for the people that can afford to buy the dip, $16,200 extra wide heated and cooled seats behind home plate.

Those pilots landed at the base 30 miles away and made it back to watch the game.
