This is not a man who is at all interested in investing any energy now for projects that wonβt bring him personal glory (or profit) while heβs still in office. Let alone something that most likely wonβt happen until after heβs dead.
And in all fairness if Elon didnβt believe that heβd get to Mars within his lifetime he probably wouldnβt be pushing for Mars missions either.

Seriously, I very much doubt his comprehension of space in general and the solar system in particular goes anywhere beyond βSunβ (visible during daytime, hurts eyes), βEarthβ (where the golf courses are, flat) and βMoonβ (sometimes visible at night, sometimes not, inexplicably changes shape). And βMarsβ and βMilky Wayβ are candy bars, you canβt βgoβ there, thatβs just fake news and a liberal conspiracy to swindle the US out of money, paid for by George Soros.
