I’m sure once Krasnov’s regime has scrubbed women from all record of NASA participation, it will never be mentioned that Suni Williams was one of the astronauts.

She may get casual mention as a flight attendant, or as ballast for the capsule’s return trip.

I think the kids in the industry use the term β€œmass simulator” these days.

It doesn’t come out that obvious in the film, but the book makes clear that the view cuts from one weapons system (blunt instrument) to another (orbital nuclear missile platform).
Neatly showing technological progress spanning thousands of years and very little progress otherwise simultaneously.

Is anyone else bothered when the word monstrous is used to mean huge?

Just me?

Vast, gigantic (as used in the article), massive, fuck off, colossal, enormous (not to be cornfoozed with enormity, FFS!), immense, monumental, great hulking brute of a [insert noun], giant, etc etc etc.

Monstrous? WTF?

ETA:
I’ve been vainly trying to recall the 90s Suthun Coliforniyah slang for β€œreally big;” when at last I find that file on my biocomputer, I’ll add it.

I would take is implying the size is exceptional, but it’s one of the usual meanings of the word – Merriam-Webster actually lists it as the first one. In Monsters vs. Aliens, nobody seems bothered that Ginormica is a perfectly normal human apart from her size. :man_shrugging:
