I was replying to a pair of comments, which were complaining (on a space history video), that Egyptology was a completely unscientific “vendetta.”
I explained that I am not an Egyptologist, but it seems scientific to me. Of course, it’s dealing with human beings, across thousands of years, so no one person can be an expert on the whole field.
I think discussed Champollion’s interpretation of Egyptian hieroglyphics, and how that’s been tested every time Egyptologists use this to translate texts, and then various chronological theories, and how these are tested by comparing them with the inscriptions, and with matching pottery types elsewhere, and with C14 dating.
Just like the US spent the latter half of the 20th century offshoring the most dangerous, damaging, horrible jobs to the rest of the world, and our government arbitrarily decided we should stop doing that.
PragerU needs to die in a fire. They are not educational, they are propaganda bullshit, period, full stop. Young Earth creationism, “slavery was actually pretty cool,” white supremacy, and so on. I don’t know that they have done any pro-pedophile work, but it would not surprise me.
I don’t have a link, but the radio just said that the USG Chacellor, Sonny Perdue JUST got another raise (to like $570,000). Meanwhile, I’ll be teaching 2 classes for a few thousand smackers over the course of the fall semester (I’ll get the contract this week and see my exact compensation then). No relation to the chicken company, surprisingly enough… his father was a farmer down in in the southern part of the state, but I don’t think his family was particularly wealthy prior to his rise in business and politics.
