Or the weather thread or the gardening thread…
I know we had some dry days up in north GA, with some red flag fire threat days.

One of the few truly forward-thinking, genuinely popular and apparently climate-friendly pieces of legislation of the last years.
So of course the conservatives want to get rid of it
This kind of attitude even gives me the impression that conservatives don’t like it when someone wins something, even if they don’t lose anything. Getting a better life is something immoral to them.
I am writing this from the one and only park bench in all of Chicago.
And it just started raining. Now it stopped.
with a little editing, you’ve got the makings of a nice haiku there.
Chicago park bench
i find but one as rain begins.
and rain no longer.
still needs work.
I went out looking for a sticker proclaiming “Chicago” this afternoon.
Due to the tariffs that we all knew were coming, I made many purchases earlier this year that I had been putting off for a while. One of those things was a metal suitcase. For a long time I have admired metal suitcases that get scratched and dented due to use, and have stickers on them commemorating those travels.
Now that I have been moved out of my mother’s old house, I will have to carry more clothes and personal items when traveling. So everything indicated that the time was right.
I have passed through Chi-Town many times over the years. I thought, now that I’m spending a day there, I might as well spend some time getting a sticker stating I have been to Chicago. I have earned that right.
I hoped to get one from the Art Institute of Chicago gift shop. I assume they have a gift shop. All self respecting museums do. I will get around to viewing their exhibits when I have more time.
But, it is Tuesday, and the museum is closed on Tuesday. What kind of museum is closed on Tuesday?
So I began my return walk back to my hotel, tired and hungry, and stickerless.
I passed what used to be the Carson, Pirie, Scott Building. The store currently using some of that space might have what I was looking for. But I didn’t what a sticker from Target on my suitcase.
Then I saw Macy’s. They might have what I wanted. And I used to work at Macy’s, so the sticker would be extra meaningful.
Knowing Macy’s as well as I do, I j ew to head for the basement. Finding the down escalator was the hard part. There I found they have a book store. I knew I was getting close. And it was there that I found my sticker. The last one of its type in the combined children’s/travel section. It’s not too big and not too small, and features the Hancock Center under a script “Chicago.” Why it features the Hancock Center, I don’t know, but it looks good.
The guy behind the register was definitely a book nerd. I apologized for only buying a sticker. I told him I was traveling. He was OK with that. They had a lot of “Kamala is Brat” and “Proud Democrat” pins by the register for sale.
By the way, the Chicago Macy’s looks better than the Herald Square one.
I joyfully exited the building on North Wabash Avenue. I held the door for someone else, then proceeded north up the sidewalk and saw, looming in the distance, 401 North Wabash Avenue with an enormous TRUMP on the side. I honestly nearly threw up.
From my recollection, the Picasso Museum in Paris.
Amateurs!
