The ruling, issued by Obama appointee Judge Jon S. Tigar, pointed directly to the discriminatory intent behind Trump’s executive orders. In siding with the plaintiffs, the court found that the provisions targeting “gender ideology” served no legitimate purpose beyond a transparent desire to harm transgender people: “Plaintiffs argue that the Gender Termination Provision and Gender Promotion Provision fail any level of scrutiny because the Gender Order is “transparently motivated by a ‘bare desire to harm’ transgender people.”… Defendants offer no response in their opposition, nor any argument that either provision advances any legitimate government interest, and thus concede the point.”
Also: water is wet
I’m glad the event organizers are addressing this. Also, I noticed in that thread people theorizing they’ll use pardoned J6 thugs. I wouldn’t be surprised if
called on supremacist groups for help. Also, now I’m wishing that I had seen this sooner:
Yeah, if you have to sit down, it’s usually safer to face away from the police; or maybe take turns with one person watching for a group sitting down.
They don’t even have to. Those groups like the Proud Boys, Oathkeepers, 3%ers, Patriot Front, etc. show up as counterprotesters without help. But with the scale of the recent protests, they are a drop of rancid diarrhea in the ocean. They won’t confront the kind of numbers we’re putting out there.
Grab ‘em by the posse comitatus.
Bring in the military? What, the cops aren’t killing enough people?

From that Bluesky thread:
Four LAPD officers on horseback surround a man laying on the ground, trample him, and beat him with their polycarbonate “saber” batons.
(The cops are deliberately riding their horses over a guy that they’ve thrown to the ground, even turning their horses on top of him. When he tries to get up, another cop throws him back down on the ground. That’s some attempted murder, right there.)
A woman was run down and trampled and clubbed by LAPD officers on horseback. She appears to be seriously injured and bleeding from the head as an officer drags her limp body along the pavement.
Hours and hours of footage of LAPD savagely beating people with clubs and shooting them.
A study published in 2017 in the BMJ found that 3% of people hit by rubber bullets died of the injury. Fifteen percent of the 1,984 people studied were permanently injured by the rubber bullets, also known as “kinetic impact projectiles.”
And now for something completely different…
…and nevertheless, completely unsurprising.
If we make it through this administration, it really is going to take decades to fully recover the loss of just plain old everyday competence in government agencies.
On the plus side, the FDA advisory panels are kinda ad-hoc. They aren’t staff, really. They form and reform as needed, so while this is just a stupid move, it’s easy enough once we’re through the shitstorm to reconvene the panel.
What makes it bad is that it is blatantly a move to clear the way for Kennedy to destroy the FDA’s vaccine competency. And just another nail in Kennedy’s perjury coffin.
ETA: Correction. I thought I read it was the FDA advisory panel, but I see it’s the CDC advisory committee. That’s a completely different beast and I agree 100% with @Docosc that it is extremely bad news.
700 marines sent in, no insurrection act invoked, (ianal) seems illegal on its face. how fast (if ever) can this get to the supreme court?
Pentagon to temporarily deploy about 700 Marines to Los Angeles - reports
Despite comments made by Donald Trump just now (“we’ll see”), the US military is set to temporarily deploy about 700 Marines to Los Angeles while additional National Guard troops arrive in the city, a US official has told Reuters.
The official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said a battalion would be sent, but for now, the Insurrection Act is not expected to be invoked.
(source google… without a decent reference -sigh-)
sending Marines (or other federal troops) for domestic law enforcement purposes without invoking the Insurrection Act is likely illegal, as it would violate the Posse Comitatus Act
where’s that list of congresscritters that voted for him? I would like to know if they have any regrets.
