I don’t know, but even in that photo, you can tell that the soldiers are not in tight formation (look how uneven the rows are), and they are not in lock step (look at their feet). Some people have assured me the military still drills soldiers on this so this had to be intentional. Others have told me the military doesn’t drill this like they used to so it doesn’t mean much. I don’t know who to believe, to be honest. Personally, I am ok with either explanation, because I don’t see much value in this kind of performative military theater. Whether the rank and file aren’t on board with Trump and this reflected some kind of silent protest, or they’re just not trained on this because their training focuses more on the actual jobs the modern military does isn’t that important to me, although I’d love it if the former were true. I have my doubts, though.
