Dodgers block ICE agents from entering stadium in Los Angeles, team says

What’s interesting is ICE’s response - just going to social media and calling the story “false.” When we can see that the story isn’t “false” - there’s clearly some masked federal agents there. Reporters talked to DHS, because some of them appeared to be wearing those uniforms, and they pointed the finger at CBP. But all those organizations are now doing ICE work, and none are identifying themselves, and this incident really highlights (and reinforces) that confusion. Given that they were doing ICE’s work, they are effectively ICE agents, and ICE calling the story “false” is ultimately just more dishonesty and obfuscation on their part.

If ICE get their feelings hurt by being mistaken for other branches of Gestapo, then maybe they should try wearing uniforms, showing their ID when asked, and uncovering their faces.

If they want people to see a difference between them and any and every random gang of anonymous thugs wearing badly fitting military harnesses and Punisher-themed bandannas over their faces while black-bagging, kidnapping, and disappearing innocent civilians off the street in broad daylight while beating up everyone who dares question them, then there has to actually be a difference.

[Narrator: they won’t, and they can’t, because there is no difference.]

Maybe we could get all the other gangs to start wearing “Not ICE” badges. I mean, the mistake is kind of insulting to them too. :unamused:

Some of that may be budget. ICE has blown through theirs. Other agencies may be stepping in so that ICE doesn’t go bankrupt this week. That’s why there were FBI agents tackling Senator Padilla and (allegedly) CBP agents at Dodgers Stadium. They are probably going to have USDF&W agents tackling school kids at recess, too.

I don’t think they do - certainly not between ICE and every random gang of federal forces also doing kidnappings and deportations; they want that uncertainty to exist because it makes them even less accountable than they already are. (Can’t hold anyone accountable if you never find out who they are, after all.) I wouldn’t be surprised if they were fine with confusion with non-governmental thugs wearing military cosplay and kidnapping people, just for the added confusion. (I’m sure we’ll eventually find out, after it happens
 assuming it hasn’t already.)

They’ve been doing that from the start of this administration, though - CBP, DHS, etc. have all been acting as ICE agents, essentially. Possibly in part because they foresaw the budget issues, but also because every single federal law enforcement agency has had its mission changed to dealing with border issues and/or immigrants as much as possible, with mass deportations/imprisoning being the primary goal of this administration.

Trump has said this multiple times, now, this time more generally, about the entire intelligence community, and it makes me crazy every time. It really raises the question: given that the intelligence community is the source for all of Trump’s information on the subject, then what is his basis for deciding that they’re wrong? And why does no one ask him this?

Because the only people who are allowed close enough to him to be able to ask are those people who have been selected on the basis that they won’t, even if they know they should.

That’s certainly true, although I suppose really it doesn’t need to be asked of him (because it’s not like he actually provides answers to questions), but every reporter who reports on this could ask it as something of a rhetorical question.

In the same vein

“We love America just as much as [Conservatives] do. But in a different way. You see, they love America like a 4-year-old loves his mommy. Liberals love America like grown-ups. To a 4-year-old, everything Mommy does is wonderful and anyone who criticizes Mommy is bad. Grown-up love means actually understanding what you love, taking the good with the bad and helping your loved one grow.”

Not really his source for ALL information on this. I mean, there’s Fox News, Putin, The Heritage Foundation, Steven Miller - oh, all sorts of sources of ‘information’ that Trumpy occasionally pays attention to, and probably more so than he pays attention to the intelligence community, because they will insist on giving him written briefings. And with words of more than one syllable, to boot.
If the intelligence community wants to tell him stuff, get someone he likes to whisper it in his ear, or broadcast it on Truth Social.

The intelligence community need to prepare their briefings for their audience to be effective:

Ya know what? I’ll wager they don’t care if there are a few people masquerading as ICE and kidnapping people; collateral damage.

@DukeTrout has likely already expertly covered this ongoing issue; so to gild-the-lily, here’s a wonderfully terse summary of the slow and cautious “uh, maybe 2024 was stolen
?” issue care of two comments in the always quaint reddit sub r/OutOfTheloop (last sentence bolded by me):

What’s up with recent claims that Harris actually won the election?

[–]niltermini an hour ago

Answer: a county in NY (Rockland) had zero votes for Harris and has sworn affadavits from voters saying they voted for her. The NY Supreme court just ruled the case should move to discovery after they found the machines had been significantly altered. The machines that were altered are the same machines that were used in 40% of counties throughout the US

Go for it. In these troubled times, I’m sure the Nobel Committee could use a good laugh.
