Lying during peace negotiation is a strategyâŠas is disguising soldiers as first aid, or bombing a harbor without declaring war. It doesnât so much take brilliance as a reckless disregard of future consequences.
People have pointed out that Netanyahu is basically only staying in power by being a wartime leader.* Since thereâs not much of Gaza left, its utility in that regard is almost depleted, so Bibi needed a new war.

Incidentally thatâs another point against the âthe plan is to get Iranians to throw out their leaderâ gaslighting â Netanyahu knows from personal experience thatâs not what attacks do.
And they also know from experience that this kind of attack accelerates nuclear programs. Netanyahu wants full-scale war between the US and Iran (with an active nuclear program that prevents relations with other countries from being normalized).
