A “friendly plane wave”??!! What the ever loving hell??!!!
I am continually disappointed that they did not name the series as such:
- Knives Out
- Glass Onion, a Benoit Blanc Mystery
- Wake Up Dead Man, a Benoit Blanc Mystery
The character is the recurring thing, like Poirot, Sherlock Holmes, or Jessica Fletcher. Just imagine Death on the Nile, a Murder on the Orient Express mystery.
In the interest of contributing meaningfully to the actual conversation. Have I not been paying attention in the past, or is it a break with norms to refer to our military using the terms warriors and warfighting? I feel like even GWB would refer to the military in more solemn and muted ways, and I found his administration to be downright jingotastic at the time.
Maybe he was listening to the Clash’s Rock the Casbah?
“Soon as the Sharif is out of their hair
The jet pilots wave”
people visiting or indeed living in these ‘united’ states really need to get their phone security sorted. mine isn’t the best, but if i pick one “unlock” (password) sequence rather than the other there’s definitely a substantial amount of its filesystem which remains hidden. (silly nerdy reference: Newt Scamander Suitcase) -sigh- that this has become necessary …
Yes. A primer of some sort on how to defend one’s phone, and oneself, from infiltration by der regime would be awesome.
It’s really low hanging fruit to talk about this idiot’s random capitalization, but this one really jumped out at me.
Bombs, I mean, BOMBS, you say? Well that sure is a change from the usual payload of cantaloupes or leftover ham sandwiches that are usually dropped from US warplanes. Thanks for not only clearing that up, but for drawing attention to it with all caps.
As much as it pains me to say so, I’ll grant him accuracy for this. I agree that there isn’t another military in the world that could get away with dropping bombs like that without consequences. In 2024 we spent just shy of one trillion dollars on our military, totaling more than the next nine countries together, two of which are actively at war with one another. So yeah, he is actually right about that.
Now that we’ve bombed the shit out of you …
Come on, AP. There was no ceasefire except in T****’s head. Iran denies there was any agreement involving the US and that a prior, tentative agreement was shattered when the US bombed them.
This. Warriors are amateurs. Soldiers are professionals. It just goes back to this administration’s incompetence and lack of experience.
Trump is (once again) in a position where he’s got two contradictory goals - on the one hand, he saw how well the Israel-Iran conflict was playing on Fox, and wanted a piece of it (to pump his poll numbers and distract from his domestic policies), so he’s got some nebulous set of goals around a war with Iran, but at the same time, he also really, really wants a Nobel Peace Prize, and apparently he now sees this as a way of getting one. For bombing Iran and then, uh, stopping? (Also he might be realizing how unpopular war with Iran is, belatedly.)
And reality surpasses parody and provides:
(Of course anyone can nominate someone for a peace prize and it means nothing, but the absolute irony of nominating Trump for a non-existent cease fire in a conflict that he personally escalated, and for “preventing” a nuclear ambition that he’s reignited.)*
*I’m also now wondering how much this is a manipulation tactic. Nominating Trump for this thing he hasn’t done serves as a way of saying, “Hey, good job there buddy, you can stop now.”
His explanation wouldn’t pass a high school freshman debate team tryout. Imagine being intellectually bullied by nerds from then on.
For the brilliant idea of dropping bombs and then calling “no tag backs”.
How is this not a child, using their parent’s phone for pretend play?
I have long held that Trump’s rise to power definitively disproves the existence of the Illuminati. Any such organization would self-select for long-term planning, and instability is bad for long-term planning, therefore the Illuminati must not exist.
I have recently decided that Trump’s rise to power (and tech bros like Musk, more generally) definitively disprove the existence of magic. If magic exists, and humans are capable of using it, then magic users would naturally self-select for intelligence and competence. Trump and his ilk have neither of these things, so therefore magic must not exist. Money (under Capitalism) is a power that does not select for intelligence or competence, and in fact tends to shield from it over time.
