I won’t go too far off topic but Nugent has run afoul of the DNR on several occasions, he also has stuff pending about boars on his ranch.
He should just go back to Texas where he’s more welcome, he hasn’t been welcome here for a long while.
Borton also appears to have issues with the DNR.
I also didn’t know we had a committee on the weaponization of state government.

Nugent was invited by state Rep. Ken Borton (R-Gaylord) to testify before the members of the House Natural Resources & Tourism Committee, the House Rural Development and Natural Resources Committee and the House Oversight Subcommittee on Weaponization of State Government.
Rep. David Martin (R-Davison), one of three chairs for the meeting, said it was his intention to use the hearing to shine a light on alleged recent abuses by DNR officials. The meeting followed the Oversight subcommittee’s recent hearing on a decade-old invasive species order issued by the DNR surrounding feral pigs and allegations that the department was running covert enforcement against pig farmers and game ranch owners

I’m not personally anti-hunting, but for some assholes, it becomes their whole fucking personality, and it starts to be about a kind of cruelty towards nature. It feeds into the Christian nationalist view of the the world and humanities’ place within it.
No, but I think we can learn to live in a better way, not seeing ourselves as outside of nature, but as part of it. There are certainly plenty of discourse around building a more sustainable world. I’m especially thinking of Murray Bookchin here and his theory of social ecology. It’s true that we can’t go back to some pristine environment, but we can certainly change directions and find a better way to build society. We shouldn’t let the elites fool us into the thinking that there is no alternative.

There is also a really, really huge rift in the hunting community about public lands. There are poor hunters who genuinely hunt for food. There are moderately well-off hunters who can afford to travel (at least semi-locally) to hunt public lands. Then there are the wealthy, who own the land they hunt and actually want to be able to buy public land so that only they and their friends can hunt it.
Nugent falls into that latter category and is also, as @tcg550 alludes to, known as a poacher.
Honestly, so much of what the T**** admin has been doing alienates so much of their base that, for all the objections against it, it is very clear they don’t think there will ever be any more elections in the US.

Why would the so-called “Supreme Leader,” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, of the war torn Country of Iran, say so blatantly and foolishly that he won the War with Israel, when he knows his statement is a lie, it is not so. As a man of great faith, he is not supposed to lie. His Country was decimated, his three evil Nuclear Sites were OBLITERATED, and I knew EXACTLY where he was sheltered, and would not let Israel, or the U.S. Armed Forces, by far the Greatest and Most Powerful in the World, terminate his life. I SAVED HIM FROM A VERY UGLY AND IGNOMINIOUS DEATH, and he does not have to say, “THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP!” In fact, in the final act of the War, I demanded that Israel bring back a very large group of planes, which were heading directly to Tehran, looking for a big day, perhaps the final knockout! Tremendous damage would have ensued, and many Iranians would have been killed. It was going to be the biggest attack of the War, by far. During the last few days, I was working on the possible removal of sanctions, and other things, which would have given a much better chance to Iran at a full, fast, and complete recovery - The sanctions are BITING! But no, instead I get hit with a statement of anger, hatred, and disgust, and immediately dropped all work on sanction relief, and more. Iran has to get back into the World Order flow, or things will only get worse for them. They are always so angry, hostile, and unhappy, and look at what it has gotten them - A burned out, blown up Country, with no future, a decimated Military, a horrible Economy, and DEATH all around them. They have no hope, and it will only get worse! I wish the leadership of Iran would realize that you often get more with HONEY than you do with VINEGAR. PEACE!!!
