The goddamn Trump Administration (Part 2)

He probably did this to get rid of the insistent requests of Mr. Bolsonaro’s most brilliant son, who fled Brazil (despite there not being the slightest request for an investigation into his conduct in the country) and now lives in Disneyland.

Some political analysts say that the brilliant Bolsonaro supporters ended up helping Lula’s candidacy, which will appeal to long-held anti-American grudges. It remains to be seen whether the new generations, raised on neoconservatism and American evangelicalism, will heed this call.

It’s like those Canadians who wanted to close the country’s roads a while back and who, when arrested for disorderly conduct, invoked the First and Fifth Amendments, or American internet users who were shocked to learn that Brazilian law doesn’t apply the same right to free expression as it does in the United States and doesn’t cover crimes like threats, racism, hate speech, and others. They were saddened to learn that a Brazilian comedian was convicted of using jokes to promote racism and threats against several people.

Here, neo-Nazi marches and organizations like the KKK would have reportedly received a visit from the federal police in no time.

I think Mr. Trump firmly believes that the American laws, Justice and politc system are universal and applied everywhere.

Whenever Bolsonaro is finally imprisoned, remember to have guards looking inward and ones looking outward, considering how much history keeps repeating itself at the moment.

He’s always crying to the press that he’s like a little bird, that he’ll die in prison because he wouldn’t know how to live there. A lot of people want to see if this is true.

I’m not a fan of former President Dilma Rousseff, quite the opposite. But I really admire this photo of her being tried by the military after being tortured for weeks. She is serene, but the military are hiding their faces.

Mr. Bolsonaro is always bragging about his physical strength, his intelligence and his military background (he was nearly arrested for sedition and mutiny in the 1990s and was discharged from the armed forces) and yet he is not manly enough to withstand the hardships of life in prison.

Probably no one will lift a finger for him, since his public acts are attracting fewer and fewer people to his preaching for amnesty (he hasn’t even been tried and is already asking for forgiveness).

For Trump, I bet this gesture means nothing, but for the increasingly ostracized Bolsonaro, it will serve as one of those mugs that read “The Best Dad in the World.”

Ah yes, Freeport-McMoRan… who for years reamed West Papua’s indigenous peoples, their water, their land, and more.

And F-M perpetrated one of the bigger modern environmental damage-for-profits in Austin.

June 7 Marks the 30th Anniversary of Austin’s Barton Creek PUD Rebellion

by Daryl Slusher | Jun 5, 2020 | Environment

About a week ago Bill Bunch, the Director of the Save Our Springs Alliance (SOSA), contacted me and reminded that we are approaching the 30th Anniversary of the Barton Creek PUD uprising. That happened Thursday June 7, 1990 when Austinites rose up and swatted down a development proposal for a massive subdivision, commercial and golf course development on some 4,000 acres along Barton Creek — around seven miles upstream from Barton Springs.

The lead developer, Jim Bob Moffett, came straight from central casting. Moffett was a former University of Texas football lineman who had made it big — first in oil, then in gold and copper mining. He was then CEO of Freeport McMoRan, headquartered in New Orleans. Freeport owned and operated one of the biggest, if not the biggest, gold mines in the world, in Indonesia. Moffett and partners had recently bought the Barton Creek Country Club and some surrounding acreage out of bankruptcy and foreclosure — claiming he was returning to help his college town escape from the late 1980s economic bust.

A huge number of Austinites, however, saw it a lot differently. After an all night public hearing, the City Council, previously thought to be leaning toward approval of the PUD (Planned Unit Development) voted it down unanimously. Moffett could have won an Academy Award as the villain except he wasn’t acting. He once even threatened to “bankrupt the City” if he didn’t get his way. But this was not a movie. So the saga did not end the moment Council turned down the PUD and the springs were not eternally protected after the one night uprising. …

…but for the fact that neither Kissinger, nor Moffett (I found out earlier today), are still with us.
