Racism is a helluva drug
I think “He doesn’t deserve it. He’s a Trump hater.” says it all, really. It’s just pure Wilhoit’s Law.
This one seems to have been buried in all the other fuckery, but it sure is awful:
I think that’s fake news, trump said no more deadline extensions.
How much you want to bet he’s going to keep pulling back on tariffs until the mid-terms have passed, and then let them all rip, whatever “deals” he’s made in the interim.
TACO in action!
they are apparently subject to arrest from the moment of birth.
I have no words.
It’s unclear to me how much Trump actually understands about tariffs. If he has even the slightest inkling, then he’ll do that, but it kind of seems like he’s honestly unaware how they work, and doesn’t realize US consumers will definitely be seeing huge inflationary effects from them. (It doesn’t help that the effect of tariffs hasn’t really hit the US until now, thanks to the desperate buying spree importers went on before the provisional ones took effect.)
Looking at the “deals” he’s announced so far, the thing they have in common is that the only real portion of them is the tariffs. The rest is stuff like “country X will give us billions of dollars” (lol, no, they won’t), and “country X will buy more stuff from/invest more in the US” (none of which is stuff those countries can even promise, much less make good on). Trump can’t get any countries to agree to anything, it appears (having delusional demands made that pretty much a certainty), and the only thing he can do unilaterally is apply tariffs. (Until enough courts point out that he can’t and make him stop.)
Sure, I doubt he actually understands tariffs, except in some abstract way. But he seems to equate the vast wealth of the gilded age with the tariff policies, and for him, having a bunch of rich dudes with a huge amount of power in the country is what makes America great, to his mind. That’s precisely the kind of economy he and other far right winger seek to impose on us - one where a few elites can extract as much value as possible to build their wealth, while the rest of us have to struggle for the basics of a decent life. If that is his goal, then he does understand what a tariff could be used for. He’s not seeking to build a mid-century American economy, where you did see a vast expansion of wealth lower down the economic ladder, but a late 19th century economy. That makes more sense with his actions with regards to tariffs.
… and popular and known of far and wide…so much the better to distract from the Trump-Epstein Saga.
