contradictory assertions abound, but this one, (i’m sure he or whoever wrote this doesn’t realize) almost asserts a socialist point of view: some business people (not trump of course) should incur/accept a loss for the greater populace. …in order that the masses reflect more confidence on trump policies, of course. @#$!

I had to check if this was real or not, which is an accomplishment, given my appalling low (and just appalling) expectations for this administration. They’re really crossing the line into outright “dystopian movie authoritarian figure” territory. It’s not enough that they’ve got authoritarian policies, no, they don’t want to be subtle about it. The visual short-hand that such movies use to show that it’s definitely set in a dictatorship, Trump is now embracing with gusto. (Almost to the degree of parody. I mean, they even used his mugshot-inspired portrait, for extra menace. Frankly most dystopian movies would consider that a bit over-the-top.)
We’re speed-running our way into multiple fictional dystopias, all at once. (And no wonder - we’ve got it all! Nazis! Big Brother surveillance state! AI apocalypse - with killer drones! Unaddressed climate change! Creating the conditions for unconstrained pandemics! The threat of World War Three!)
I joke that if Trump were to die (or become so mentally incompetent he couldn’t appear in public, even as a distraction), his administration would pull a “Weekend at Bernie’s” where they replace all his appearances with AI-generated videos. (Including at his “live” appearances at rallies.) But I’m increasingly uncertain if that is a joke or not.
