I think Qatar is actually sending Trump a pair of $500 million Nikies and suggesting he take up running.

The article also says thisā¦
Germanyās chancellor, Friedrich Merz, meanwhile said that Ukraineās allies had removed all range limits on supplied arms, amid reports he would give Kyiv Taurus missiles.
The Taurus missile has a range of about 500km - a far greater distance than other systems supplied by Ukraineās allies. Russia said supply of the weapon would be āa dangerous moveā.
lol: Kremlin calls Trump āemotionalāā¦
Next Putin will tell T#@$& that he should smile more
Big time mask off on Babylon Bee.
Between this and the leverage Cory Doctorow thinks they could have by threatening to repeal their DMCA like laws, Canada could really be an international bulwark against FfvC (Fuckface von Clownstick).

Your well-argued rationale for him not mentioning it much has considerable plausibility.
Perhaps more than a wacky conspiracy theory that some patsy was set up to do the act (and maybe even deliberately miss, which he accidentally nearly failed to accomplish.)
What IS very odd, either way, is that Trumpās raging narcissism has been reined in on this one topic. I would have expected him to use every opportunity to show that āiconicā photo (and letās face it, it IS a powerful image) of him moments afterwards, fist in the air having been, well, righteously delivered (as he might put it) from death in order to pursue his (and Godās) purpose. It would be a classic āanointed leaderā piece of fascist propaganda for any other would-be autocrat, to be exploited to the hilt.
(Edited 'cos I realise I wrote the opposite of what I meant in para 2)
Elvis left the building long ago.
(But there would certainly be many who would be, ahem, proud to do so, today.)
Oh yeah, I know. Itās all projection on his part. Every single syllable that drops from his orange-peel lips is projection.
From what Iāve seen here, a very unscientific sample for sure, most of the antivax medical professionals are also hard core MAGAts and Evangelicals. They faced horrible cognitive dissonance and chose to abandon science for a faith-based belief system. It is easier. Ypu just believe whatever you are told to believe. No effort, no confusion, easy peasy. Just turn off your critical thinking and away you go. IMHO, they can no longer effectively function as medical professionals, but licensing boards and such have not caugjt up with that yet. As i think about this, medicine is historically so authoritarian and hierarchical, at least in training, we may be somewhat predisposed to that kind of structure. Hmmm, gonna have to let that thought percolate for a whileā¦
I marvel at such people, in disbelief. I would find it utterly impossible to turn off my critical/analytical thinking processes. And Iām not even a scientifically trained person (like a qualified doctor presumably is to more than a small extent).
But I guess if the choices are:
then the last may sometimes be the least hard thing to do.
ETA I still donāt get how the last option can be reconciled with practising medicine.
Ime thereās an extra layer with many trump voters due to the fact that abusive authoritarian structures that exploit the most vulnerable are often deliberately inflicted on small children via some of the flavors of Christian religious cults here. We are talking about people often with deep trauma, intense narcissistic wounds, no support structures⦠Who truly on some level believe in consciously rejecting reality as a discipline. Plenty of these people make it through medical school Iām sure, just not very self aware or able to stay numb one way or another.
I think later education probably loses the battle when some folks get in the trenches.
As some one from here who seems to be allergic to the whole authoritarian narcissistic daddy complex that runs rampant in these hills I have a limited understanding of it but a very clear awareness of the resulting dysfunction.
I think the cognitive dissonance is deeper than just ābeing wrongā because of this⦠So you see the last choice being easier for them.
When I was listening to a news report about this on the radio yesterday the reporter described the bribes as totaling āseventy five hundred dollarsā which didnāt sound right to me. Not that being off by a factor of ten would or should make the bribery any less illegal, but I was mildly surprised at a sheriff selling out for so little. So this makes a bit more sense. (But definitely isnāt better.)
I used to live within easy walking distance of Stony Brook University (SUNY Stony Brook). About 1/3 of their students came from Asian countries, which worked out great for us because we had all sorts of great noodle and sushi shops near us.
I learned that the reason we had so many Asian students is that Stony Brook (and also my daughterās college, SUNY Geneseo, which is considered a top SUNY school) were heavily marketed to these international students as highly prestigious international universities.
By law, the SUNY schools could not raise their admission. However, one way for them to get more income despite these limitations was to have more foreign students. The foreign students paid full out-of-state tuition. So, this is why the schools were promoting themselves overseas.
