Unfortunately I think anything even remotely like terrorism that happens over the next few years will be framed as coming from the left. (They were wearing Nazi uniforms and chanting pro-trump slogans, but they were obvious paid ANTIFA actors sent down here to infiltrate the klue klux klan.) And of course, many people will believe that either because they want to believe it or just good old fashioned apathy.

That’s certainly a reasonable (inescapable, even) conclusion given they’ve been doing it for years of right-wing terrorism already. “January 6th was a false flag attack,” for instance. They don’t want to acknowledge that it’s their side doing it, so it gets blamed on the left, but the problem becomes, ultimately, that they don’t want to denounce it, either, because they know it’s not the left, and they don’t want to be going after their own side (or even discouraging them from further violence, necessarily). So what ends up happening, more than anything, is that they ignore it. All these right-wing mass shooters? They claim that somehow they’re secretly left-wing, which would give them a great opportunity to crack down on imaginary left-wing terrorism, but only use that approach, temporarily, as a distraction, until it leaves the news cycle and they can then stop talking about it. Depending on the crime, either their credulous base will continue believing it’s left-wing violence and keep being upset about it (providing a pretext for their worldview and anger at the left), or they eventually come to realize it was right-wing violence and decide it was justified, actually (especially after right-wing media convinces them it was).
Cognitive dissonance is absolutely mandatory for MAGAt membership. Never trust your own eyes or memory, only believe what the party tells you to believe.
