I’ve been watching a docuseries on Netflix about Churchill. One of the talking heads had a quote that I found really insightful.
They said that Hitler was someone who when he spoke, he made you believe he could do anything. When Churchill spoke, he made you think you could do anything. It really encapsulates the difference between a totalitarian or authoritarian leader like Trump and an a visionary leader like FDR.
Trump looks so small given both men are supposed to be 6’3”. I guess he forgot to put on his elevator shoes.
And I’m not trying to height shame anybody, but given Trump’s vanity and how he loves to “inflate his stats” or make fun of those smaller than him, I consider this fair game.
What really happened? Nothing. Nothing we even needed to hear about.
The handcuffs won’t be used, the flights still happen, no tarriffs… But now there’s some fake news for the kayfabe and Trump can pretend he did bigly with tarriffs to put immigrants in their place while he authorizes more raids on schools and puts affirmative action in place for alcoholic rapists in government.
So, on FB group page of which I’m a member, someone posted a Christian verse/prayer.
I gently reminded them that not everyone here is a Christian. I prolly shouldn’t have added, “But prayers don’t seem to be doing much about mass shootings.”, even though it’s truer than shit - and we’ll more’n likely see a rise in them during the next four centur…er, years.
I respect the right of folks to worship what/who ever they want to - but I don’t respect 'em when they use their so-called faith to absolve themselves of their crimes.
What I wish would happen is that the good Christians go after the bad Christians, instead of thinking and praying. Kind of like the Dems - the ones who take no action with us on the ground.
…and those who stand by and witness the various cruelties but do nothing but watch and pray, instead of taking some sort of action.
I’m trying to figure out a way that I can do something besides sharing trustworthy and sometimes amusing news accounts. I don’t want to be like the Fabian Society and sit in a drawing room plotting but not putting their wealth to work to help the lower classes.
Socialism to me - it’s not about getting gifts, about having the RIGHT to have those things, such as edible and nutritious food, sturdy shelter, clean water.
Perhaps I shouldn’t talk, as I’m afraid of consequences of say, putting anti trumpenmusk signs in the front bay window. If I had house insurance, though, I would do it.
