I used to wish Canada would annex Michigan (in jest… mostly.) While they’re still in some ways a more tolerant and compassionate society than the US, I’m reliably informed¹ they have their own cabal of ultra-right-wing folks raising havoc up there, one of whom (Pierre Poilievre) will become the next Prime Minister.
¹ I used to follow a Lefty Twitch streamer from Alberta (“Hellberta”, she called it) who pointed out all the “shitweasels” (her phrasing) in Canadian government. She had to quit streaming due to health problems, but she was so much fun: older than me, highly opinionated, and swore like a sailor when she got riled up (which was often.)

Tough call. You risk doing a what Europe did with Putin but, at the same time, it is not clear at all that the old political norms and niceties still apply. The may simply become with nukes. Even if the administration just descends into chaos and ineffectiveness, the president has a lot of foreign policy power and can inflict a lot of damage without stirring up much dust at home.
It would make much more sense for Canada to annex the U.S. eastern seaboard down to Maryland and a big chunk of the western seaboard.

Curiously, the “Clarity Act” passed in the wake of the 1995 Quebec Referendum has become a truly international annoyance. Apparently it is cited regularly when a splinter region somewhere in the world is considering secession.
IIRC only Texas retains the right to secede from the union, which would mean we get Rafael Cruz back, which I think is a deal breaker up here.
