The encouraging part, to me, is that at least some of these were Trump hires. If we can get some Republicans in Congress to come around, there’s a chance to save our democracy. Democrats aren’t going to be able to do this alone. We’ll need defectors.

My theory is that that’s exactly what Elon is trying to do.

One of my recent favourites. I only knew them from “Tub thumping” and thought they were a one hit wonder, at least they seemed to be that in North America. They were much bigger in the U.K. and the rest of Europe, apparently.

Maybe, but at least some of these were already, supposedly, people sympathetic to MAGA. Which tells me a couple of things. One, the evidence against Adams is really, really strong. Unusually strong. So strong that these prosecutors find dropping the charges personally offensive. And two, there are still some Republicans who haven’t completely abandoned ethics.

True, but there is also a question of competence. Very frequently, though not always, loyalists lack the competency to actually fulfill their master’s orders.
I mean, take a look the quality of Cheetolini’s lawyers over the past 4 years. Now imagine that in the justice department, trying to prosecute real cases.

I “discovered” them when they collaborated with Negativland. I was of the mind that if a counterculture mainstay like Negativland working with them, maybe there was more to the group than that one oversaturated radio friendly earworm that’s a sportsball favorite. It took several years for me to dig into their catalog in any depth, and holy shit is their stuff wonderful. Then they called it quits, crushing any hope of ever seeing them live. But, yeah, they were pretty damn great.
