Not that it’s important, but Bhad Bhabie is the “cash me ousside” girl from a Dr. Phil episode; she basically said “I’ll beat you up”. She has parlayed that into some kind of influencer career. I don’t know who the other person is. I assume some rival of Bhad Bhabie’s.
Ted might have been a narcissist, but he wasn’t a malignant narcissist. He didn’t want to hurt anyone, he just wanted to be loved.
It seems we already have.
Thanks so very fucking much, Comrade Tramp.
Included in that thread is a link to the Express;
Going from a “special relationship” to a “special needs relationship.”
Dear Henry was born in Germany and was 15 when his family got out. There is nothing surprising about him knowing this term, and many others.
To coerce Ukraine into transferring its arsenal to its former fellow Soviet state Russia (for further arms reductions), President Bill Clinton, Russian President Boris Yeltsin, and Great Britain’s Prime Minister John Major assured Ukraine of its sovereignty and defense in exchange for eliminating its nuclear capabilities. No one alive at the time would have imagined that within 30 years, Russia, under its Dictator Vladimir Putin, would break the treaty–twice–by invading Ukraine and that the U.S., led (in name) by a sick Putin sycophant named Donald Trump, would take sides with Russia by falsely blaming Ukraine for the latest war, and by demanding that Ukraine beg and bow for U.S. assistance that, per that old Budapest Memorandum, it “should” be providing anyway!
Trust, if Ukraine was still sitting on the world’s third largest nuclear arsenal, Russia NEVER would have invaded and Trump wouldn’t be trying to pimp the nation’s vast mineral resources. But just like the U.S. has broken treaty after treaty with Indigenous American tribes over the past 200 plus years, I believe that Ukraine MUST turn to the European Union to supply all of its armament needs! Indeed, as a longtime student of world history, I also believe that several old U.S. allies like Taiwan, South Korea, Germany and Japan had better be prepared for anything because the U.S., at least while under MAGA control, is NOT to be trusted to uphold treaties that provide for mutual defense and stability.

AKA the “crazification factor.” How correct this turned out to be (and was, if anything, an underestimate).
(The craziest of that Bush-era crazy shit now seems, in comparison to anything Trump does, totally sane.)
Good thing there aren’t any scary new pandemics cropping up right now!
More than 50 people have died from unidentified illnesses in north-western Congo, in the last five weeks, nearly half of them within hours after they felt sick.
Well… fuck.
Not that moves Trump any - hell, he won’t honor the agreements he himself came up with and signed, much less something a predecessor did. In fact, that a Democratic predecessor signed it becomes a reason to violate it, regardless of what it is.
That Trump’s violation of this agreement sends a strong message that states should absolutely never give up their weapons (or count on the US abiding by its commitments) doesn’t bother him either. He’s a transactional sociopath, he gives not a fig about global security.
Sadly, the only show that comes to my mind while watching Felon47 and the pols who attempt to gaslight the public about his performance is The Twilight Zone - this episode, in particular:
They’re all afraid of what the monster will do, if they piss him off instead of praising him and claiming what he did was good.
I think the problem is lack of exposure to those things that would enlighten them. Older people are used to good journalism and in-depth reports. Even our popular fiction had lots of morality tales and lessons. That’s been gone for a while. Now there are at least a couple of generations who were offered regular daily doses of “reality” shows, infotainment, and sound bites instead of substance. As a result their attention spans are short, and all that’s on offer are ways to help them cheat instead of having to really think about anything.
We could get that third back, but it’s gonna take some work.
Well, it only took an extra 50 years or so.
(this was an SPI game from 1976, premise is Soviets invade U.S.)
Whatever loony convinced the vice traitor that he’d be welcome in Vermont, I sure hope he stays on and keeps feeding suggestions. So that asshole sees nothing but protest signs everywhere he goes and ends up being shuffled from one ‘undisclosed location’ to another for the rest of his term.
Seriously though, Vermont?! Does the vice president (and all of his advisors and handlers) really know absolutely nothing about the U.S.? Eh, I guess that’s obvious. They’re not exactly the brightest onions in the attic.
Well done, fellow Vermonters!
Probably… I don’t think he’s ever liked Trump, but I do think he was until very recently calling Trump a populist, and now he’s telling everyone he’s not a populist… That frustrates me. So, I hope it’s gotten him to understand how his own work has helped make this moment happen. He’s always paraded himself about as some kind of dispassionate, neutral type, who pretends as if he’s above the culture wars fray, but he’s very much been a part of the culture wars himself, driving this whole narrative about how “elites” in academia or on the coasts have been looking their noses down on the “common” people of middle America - but despite coming from a solidly upper middle class background, going to elite schools, working in elite, conservative cultural institutions, he pretends like he’s not, and can wag his finger at the liberal wing of his own class. He’s always frustrated me for that.
Maybe he’s figured a few things out now…
Welp, the homeless crisis is about to get a million times worse… Maybe DS9 was off by just a couple of years on the Bell Riots…
You pretty much nailed every one of my complaints about David Brooks, so thanks for that. I too am no fan of his.
His “neutrality” certainly does not offer up any moments of offering help, using his position and power to be an ally, amplifying voices not part of the patriarchy or the 1%er power structures.
Bloodless.
Tomay-toe, tomah-toe?
Yes.
Hypocrite.
Potay-toe, potah-toe?
High time for the man to get uncomfortable.
Better look out Norway, we will tariff you! (/s)
But Trump is willing to take their immigrants if I remember correctly.
