I’ll admit I wasn’t aware of 18F until now. This is the sort of thing that for years I’ve been wishing the 
government would create: an open-source agency dedicated to helping solve actual problems.
From their GitHub repos, it looks like 18F are publishing all kinds of useful, basic stuff, per the mandate. They seem like exactly the kind of ‘softly powerful’ government agency Pres. Skum thinks merits the “bust the door down at 2am” treatment.
They have posted a note.

As well as opening the front and side doors publicly, Trump is now inviting the Russians to wander through the back door to look and see if anything takes its fancy. The ability for Russia to infiltrate assorted systems is almost scarier than anything overtly being done by Skum.
