The goddamn Trump Administration

Thanks! I guess he gets added to the AOC, Crockett, Raskin list of disruptors.

A friend on another platform, who actually lives only a few blocks from me, is an elementary school teacher in Toronto, and she said that one of her students chided her for getting McD’s for lunch because it’s a U.S. owned company. The “buy Canadian” movement is hitting deep!

I love his tie. Very on point.

Not watching. Any new lies or did he recycle the same lies and grievances?

I’m not watching but I overheard some, including his disgusting hatred toward autistic and trans people. I am revising my opinion that listening to Trump is one of the last circles of hell. There is simply no sin I can imagine that would actually deserve it.

I could’ve used that last week. It’s annual performance review time again and our boss had asked us to send one of these again. Normally it’s annoying, but this year given the timing it really felt tone-deaf.

Here’s what I could’ve sent, according to that link:

  • Streamlined internal processes by addressing and resolving technical issues that somehow only become “urgent” on Fridays.
  • Collaborated with team members to ensure project milestones were met, because apparently, teamwork doesn’t count unless it’s documented weekly.
  • Reviewed and optimized code to improve system performance, because efficiency is a never-ending battle against entropy.
  • Attended multiple meetings to provide “critical input,” which could have been an email but wasn’t.
  • Updated project documentation to maintain compliance, because nothing says progress like rewording the same information for the third time.

It wasn’t a congressional address so much as a filibuster.

I watched all of it (unfortunately).

There was nothing new.

It was the same old lies, same old blame game, same old hate, same old insults, same self-aggrandizement.

He did nothing to try to appeal to democrats and was actively hostile to democrats in the audience. It was also mostly low energy teleprompter Trump.

It was awful all around and I’ll never get those 100 minutes of my life back.

"He is a Bird of bad moral Character. He does not get his Living honestly. You may have seen him perched on some dead Tree near the River, where, too lazy to fish for himself, he watches the Labour of the Fishing Hawk; and when that diligent Bird has at length taken a Fish, and is bearing it to his Nest for the Support of his Mate and young Ones, the Bald Eagle pursues him and takes it from him.”

Well, of course that was not only the longest state-of-the-union speech ever given but the most outright (pre-established!) lies i think i’ve ever witnessed in a political speech, and that’s a pretty high bar. Using the cancer surviving child as an adulation symbol when trump/musk have just killed childhood cancer research has to break some record for vile perfidy. @#$!!

The good news (“there was some good news?” …well, better news) was that the Democratic response by Senator Elissa Slotkin was the best damn response to SOTU speech i’ve ever seen. It was short and really hit all the important points. well done Senator Slotkin!!

-sigh-
