The goddamn Trump Administration

Sure, but Trump is doing it as a bully, and Canada is reprehensibly fighting back. The viewpoint of these fascists is always that the strong should take and the weak should yield, and there is nothing they hate more than people standing up to them instead. I really hope it’s too much for his shriveled heart one of these days.

Trump’s Dismantling of NASA Has Officially Begun

Newly announced layoffs highlight the troubling impact of DOGE on the space agency and federal workers as a whole.

NASA has begun implementing its reduction in force (RIF) approach, closing three offices and laying off staff in compliance with executive orders by the new administration that target the federal workforce.

(wonder if we’ll ever know how many billions [dr evil pinkie] musk has had to transfer to trump-town to be allowed to do pretty much anything he wants)

Every time someone backs down it gives him more power. I wish Canada would just shut down their border for a fewer hours and back up all the truck traffic and turn off the electricity for just an hour.

Let him know what he’s risking.

But I do understand the Canadian leaders actually care about it’s citizens so they’re doing what they need to do.

I don’t doubt it, and it doesn’t surprise me, but I’m missing the symbol.
Would you enlighten me?

And btw, the “news” site Tramp linked to is a weird rightwing rag:

The first edition of The Washington Times was published on May 17, 1982. The newspaper was founded by Unification Church leader Sun Myung Moon, and it was owned until 2010 by News World Communications, an international media conglomerate founded by Moon. It is currently owned by Operations Holdings, which is a part of the Unification Church movement.[4]

The Washington Times has been known for its conservative political stance, often supporting the policies of Republican presidents Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump.[5][6]

The Washington Times has published columns contradicting scientific consensus on multiple environmental and health issues. It has drawn controversy by publishing conspiracy theories about U.S. president Barack Obama and supporting neo-confederate historical revisionism.[7]

It bothers me that they couldn’t quite get the two symbols and the TV screen centered. It shows you their attention to detail.

Cool, Ukraine finally came to it’s senses and will stop defending itself against the aggressor.

Now all russia has to do is agree to stop aggressing.

“Ukraine is ready to start talking and stop shooting,” said Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Jedda, Saudi Arabia.

Also from the same article…

Musk said Tesla would double its vehicle output in the United States in the next two years while speaking at the White House with Trump.

Yeah. A pusillanimous pus-sucking sack of shit, too.

I wonder if his next step is to somehow force people to buy Craplas Teslas.

But I thought electric cars were woke??!??

Pfff, good luck with that. Oh, but I forget, all the people protesting at Tesla dealerships and vandalizing Cybertrucks are paid to do it. Because Tesla (and by extension, Musk) are so awesome that there’s no way anyone could ACTUALLY be mad at them! Everyone upset by Musk being an open Nazi and dismantling our government before their eyes is just pretending purely to troll him, the nasty NPCs.

When Peter Doocy turns on you. I saw this on Facebook, it is a partial transcript and accurate. You can find the video but I know we don’t like twitter.

“We also expect the White House to try to reassure folks who are sitting there looking at their 401(k)s going down and down and down,” Doocy said.

“This is a White House that came in trying to get federal workers to retire by the hundreds of thousands. But it’s tough to make the argument that you should retire if your retirement accounts are getting throttled which is what is happening right now,” he continued.

“So we expect, we hope, for answers to all of these curiosities any minute,” he added.

“So you said that the Dow dropping and dropping and dropping is a period of transition. You’re sure nobody here at the White House shorted the Dow?,” he asked.

“No, I don’t think so,” replied Leavitt, trying to play the question off with a laugh.

“Okay. But is there any concern here that it’s gonna be harder to ask certain federal workers to retire if they look at their retirement accounts and they’re getting rocked every day?” Doocy asked.

“Well, I’m glad you brought up workers because that’s exactly who President Trump is looking out for with his America First trade policy and his America First economic agenda,” Leavitt falsely claimed.

“And if you look at, uh, there’s great indication to be optimistic about where the economy stands and the American people, investors, CEOs, small business owners, but most importantly workers should bet on President Trump because his tariff policies, what he envisions, is reciprocity, fair trade practices where American workers are put first and are no longer ripped off by foreign countries all over world,” she added.

And Doocy wasn’t the only reporter out for blood today…

“You said that what we’re seeing this week on Wall Street is a snapshot of a moment in time but does the president think that he bears any responsibility for the turmoil in the stock market this week?” asked one reporter.

“Look the president, uh, is unwavering in his commitment to restore American manufacturing and global dominance and I think he doubled down on that this morning with his new statement and the tariffs that will be implemented tomorrow on steel and aluminum,” replied Leavitt.

One particularly contentious moment came when a reporter asked Leavitt why Trump is “prioritizing” tax hikes in the form of tariffs instead of the tax cuts he promised.

“Not true! He’s not doing that,” snapped Leavitt. “He’s actually not implementing tax hikes.”

“Tariffs are a tax hike on foreign countries that again have been ripping us off,” she claimed incorrectly. “Tariffs are a tax cut for the American people and the president is a staunch advocate of tax cuts. As you know, he campaigned on no taxes on tips, no taxes on overtime, no taxes on Social Security benefits. He is committed to all three of those things and he expects Congress to pass them later this year.”

“I’m sorry have you ever paid a tariff? Because I have,” said the reporter. “They don’t get charged on foreign countries, they get charged on the importers.”

“And ultimately when we have fair and balanced trade which the American people have not seen in decades — as I said at the beginning — revenues will stay here, wages will go up and our country will be made wealthy again,” replied Leavitt.

“And I think it’s insulting that you’re trying to test my knowledge of economics and, uh, the decisions that this president has made,” she continued. “I now regret giving a question to the Associated Press.”

My workplace FINALLY started a 401k plan (with a very modest amount of matching, even) this year. I signed up and it kicks in in April. Now I’m wondering if I should call the whole thing off. On the one hand, if it recovers eventually, I wasn’t planning on touching it for the next couple decades anyway. On the other, are any of us still going to be alive in a couple decades? Are the USA and its stock market even going to still exist by then? Maybe I’ll need every penny I can get as soon as I can get them, just to get by. Hard to plan for the future when it’s completely unpredictable chaos.

I have heard it theorized that it was for this reason that the super-wealthy in imperial Rome favored wearing chunky jewelry. Their wealth was always readily on-hand for a quick evacuation.
