The goddamn Trump Administration

According to [Sylvie Boudreau, the president of the library’s board of trustees], when [Dog-murderer Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi] Noem visited she stood on the American side and said “U.S.A. No. 1” and then, after crossing onto the Canadian side, said “the 51st state.”

Boudreau said Noem did this multiple times.

Not only does this turn my stomach, but it hurts my head to think this behavior is being exhibited by someone in a high position of power. I was going to compare it to something you’d see from a spoiled brat child, but even that seems unlikely. This is literally behavior out of a cartoon.

To give a very timely example of why libraries are so dangerous to fascists…

I have a hold list for e-books from 2 different library systems. Most of the current books on the list are fiction, but two of the books are non-fiction and both have been on very long holds due to public interest: Being Jewish After the Destruction of Gaza (Peter Beinart) and Careless People (Sarah Wynne-Williams). I’ve gotten notification (yesterday for CP, today for BJADG) that my wait time has now shortened significantly because the library system has purchased additional copies to make them more readily available.

This is the Indiana state library system, one of the reddest states in the country.

Libraries are the backbone of democracy. This is why fascists are so afraid of them.

It’s cheaper than concentration camps.

There’s a UK episode of a very old comedy series called Steptoe & Son, where they split every part of the house in two and proceeded to behave like toddler jerks to each other, each while forced to stay on his own side. It was very funny. This is not.

I offer it as light relief from the hell of Tyrant Trump. (The turnstile and kettle on a string scenes are especially amusing. It is one of the most well-remembered and watched of all the 57 episodes of a series that ran for over a decade.)

This should work out well.

Special needs funding will be overseen by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Trump said HHS will be tasked with “handling special needs and all of the nutrition programs and everything else.”

I’ve never seen that show, but I do remember the American adaptation of it, Sanford and Son. I’m pretty sure they did something similar; it was not an uncommon sitcom plot (Gilligan’s Island, etc.) Yeah, amusing in a TV show, not so when it’s a high level politician.

The U.S. government is making it more difficult for Canadians to access the Stanstead, Que., library

It’s even worse than it sounds.

Now Iranian families risk arrest and incarceration if they go anywhere near the library.

Okay, so the administration is claiming they can deport supposed “gang members,” without any evidence of criminality, to concentration camps overseas, that American anti-Musk “terrorists” might also be sent there, but also that they don’t even need warrants to pick up these “foreign gang members.” Which means anyone, of any nationality (including US citizens) can now be snatched up and sold into permanent slavery by the government, because at no point does due process come into it - they don’t have to prove you’re a gang member, that you’ve committed any crimes, or even that you’re Venezuelan.

Yes. This sounds incredibly stupid, but that is the way things currently are — instead of a Reichstag Fire, we have had a Tesla Dealership Fire.

Shane Goldmacher, national political correspondent for The New York Times covering the major developments, trends and forces shaping American politics, shares his reporting on how the Trump administration is attempting to sabotage Democrats’ operations, and how it could affect elections and Democrats’ ability to gain power in the future.

This is the excuse the administration is using to label any organization that has opposed him as aiding terrorism. This would be any law firms, charities, fun-raisers, schools, cultural institutions, and so on.

And not just that, anything mRNA-related is being canned, including the extremely promising trials for an mRNA-based cure for pancreatic cancer, that’s normally deadly.

Yeah, rich, white neighborhoods already have trees - it’s one of their defining features, so the very need to plant trees must therefore mean…

Well, that’s alright, because the Trump administration is arguing that the lack of evidence is actually evidence of just how dangerous they are.
