I just read through the Executive Order. The part about only counting votes that have been physically received by state election officials by election day is interesting because it doesn’t include any exemptions for absentee ballots from military service members. That’s a fairly large chunk of absentee ballots and they tend to favor Republicans. I don’t want anyone to be disenfranchised, even Republicans, but Trump may be shooting himself in the foot here if he succeeds in getting states to follow the EO.

One other factor in this EO that may hurt Republicans is that per a 2019 survey a higher percentage of self-identified liberals have passports than self-identified conservatives. (57 to 48 percent) So if that’s one of the main ways to prove citizenship when registering that’s not going to help the GOP.
