Not a lot of local law enforcement seems interested in doing the legwork for Trump’s deportation plan. From MSN:
The ICE 287(g) program allows local law enforcement to assist in immigration enforcement, but only 125 of the 3,081 sheriff’s offices in the U.S. have signed up. Sheriffs like David Hathaway of Santa Cruz County, California, worry that participating in deportations could erode trust within their communities.
Basically, it boils down to money (they’re not going to get any), community trust (they don’t want to further antagonize communities that already don’t trust them), and doing their actual jobs dealing with real crime and safety emergencies as opposed to checking IDs of people minding their own business.
Which makes me nervous. These police aren’t bastions of progressivism, but at least they understand that they have budgets, payroll, and constituents to contend with. Cheetolini, on the other hand, would have to compunction against asking vigilantes such as the proud boys to round up brown people for deportation, no questions asked.

Republican mega donor and billionaire TikTok investor Jeff Yass is speculated to be be the person behind a sudden change of heart that saw Donald Trump oppose banning the Chinese-owned video app despite having tried to do it himself while in office.
Trump, who cited national security concerns when he issued a 2020 executive order demanding parent company ByteDance sell TikTok within 45 days or face a ban, last week spoke against the latest push in Congress to ban the app, saying it would only help Facebook, which he considers “an enemy of the people.”
Days after the sudden reversal, Trump spoke at a retreat for donors to the conservative PAC Club for Growth and called Yass, one of the group’s major supporters and an investor with a $33 billion stake in TikTok, “fantastic.” …

The Democrats are all “giddy” about our magnificent American Flag potentially being at “half mast” during my Inauguration. They think it’s so great, and are so happy about it because, in actuality, they don’t love our Country, they only think about themselves. Look at what they’ve done to our once GREAT America over the past four years - It’s a total mess! In any event, because of the death of President Jimmy Carter, the Flag may, for the first time ever during an Inauguration of a future President, be at half mast. Nobody wants to see this, and no American can be happy about it. Let’s see how it plays out. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
