Yeah, for some reason “peasants” only exist in other countries. In the US (and in Europe as well, tbf) those same people are “farmers”, “the salt of the earth” or “real Americans”
I vote that we all attend Nero’s concerts, and post guards at the exits to prevent anyone from leaving.
“ “We’ve halted all shipping plans from the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia,” the employee said. “Every factory order is halted. Anything that hasn’t been loaded will be scrapped, and the cargo already at sea is being re-costed.”
One client had told the company it was abandoning goods already on the water and giving them to the shipping company, as “no one will buy them after the tariffs are imposed”.
The company’s leadership had returned to China to manage a flood of order cancellations and had instructed its staff to suspend all container business until tariffs stabilise or alternative markets are secured.”
Gib me mah black lung disease!!!
Grew up in coal mine country. This is utter bullshit. Most of the miners biggest dreams were to get their kids out of the mines.
I’d like to see Trump’s kids working in coal mines.
Wow. I’m imagining going to the store in September and not seeing any Xmas crap…and it looks lovely.
[I start wearing Halloween socks the day after I see xmas crap in stores. This day has gotten earlier and earlier in recent years. 2024 the day came at the beginning of *August*. I switch to wool socks the second week of January, once the clearance section is cleaned out.]
You first, Sparky!
(“Sparky” being DonnieTwo-Burgers, of course, not our esteemed @FGD135 .)
Our last coal mine closed in 2018.
So… trump has ‘just’ (?) declared a 90-day pause on tariff terror and the stockmarket is through the @#$ roof.

US stocks ripped higher on Wednesday as President Trump announced a 90-day pause on tariffs for most countries, yet upped increasingly ballooning levies on China.
The benchmark S&P 500 (^GSPC) roared up over 7%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) rallied over 8%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) was up over 6%, or over 2,000 points. All three of the major averages had previously been lower at some point in the session.
“I have authorized a 90 day PAUSE, and a substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff during this period, of 10%, also effective immediately,” Trump posted on Truth Social just before the market lifted off. Trump also announced in the post that the US would be raising its tariffs on China to 125%.
yet (although ‘trump blinks’) with “Eurasia we’re always at war with” …?? @#$!
“Declare victory and advance full speed to the rear.” And start the whole mess over again in 90 days. Chaos. Pure chaos.
Still down several percent compared to a few days ago, and close to 10% lower than we were 6 months ago. (As of this moment, anyway.)
Some of ours have closed, but not all, unfortunately. I’d still like to see Donnie down there - if it’s good enough for the rest of us, surely it’s good enough for him!
