The goddamn Trump Administration

And “homegrown” seems like such an intentional word. Instead of, you know, “citizen.” Tramp is regularly derided as a gibbering idiot, but he often speaks in ways that carefully stop just short of stepping over a line into blatant, explicit fascism, racism, sexism, etc. It’s part of what keeps his opposition from directly labeling him a fascist, racist, sexist, etc. (aside of course from his opposition’s general spinelessness).

And the distance is not just geographical:

Yup. There you have it. In the case of the El Salvador gulag, the cosmetics look very Auschwitz-like, but the reason for its existence is very much concentration camp.

media question (which will never occur): “So the reason you and the president of El Salvador refuse to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an innocent man, from prison is that he’s dead, or is it that it will somehow limit the sense of fascist terror if the cruelty can be shown as reversible?”

Long term? Yes. Near term, it just means it will take much longer to get new drugs and devices out. Still a disaster of sorts. It feels like one when a loved one can’t get the best medicine for what ails them because it isn’t approved yet but is available in other countries, saving lives.

You called?

Does it, though? Trump has ordered agencies to delete any regulations that do not comply with recent SCOTUS decisions like Loper-Bright without notice to the public. What’s to stop them from just getting rid of the current drug approval process and replace it with one where Trump has some approval authority, which he will use to fast track approvals of Pharma companies that have bent the knee? We might not even know this has happened until it’s too late.

Hey US Army, your job, if you choose to accept it, is to document the criminality and abuses of US border control and ICE perpetrated by this administration. Take detailed notes. Godspeed.

Which, let’s be honest, was already quite lax with approvals whenever big money was at stake. So we can expect that to get much, much worse.

The Aduhelm disaster was one of the death knells for the FDA. It’s all about who has paid who now.

I really hate this narrative they are spinning. Trump is powerless to do anything because Abrego Garcia is not in US custody, and Bukele smugly claims that he is simply powerless to do anything because he can’t smuggle a terrorist into the United States. Trump says he can’t “force” El Salvador to do anything as if the US is trying to negotiate a prisoner swap with Russia or something. Bondi and Miller say SCOTUS has said in a unanimous decision that Trump is doing the right thing here, and are busy playing semantics games with the words “effectuate” and “facilitate”.

All these games and word play are meaningless because none of that is what’s going on here or what’s being asked for. There’s nobody forcing anybody to do anything, there’s nobody asking anybody to smuggle terrorists. It’s all a distraction get people talking about the wrong thing and the media won’t stop talking about the noise rather than the most basic tenets of the situation.

This isn’t some complicated diplomatic situation. This isn’t a multilateral hostage negotiation with a hostile nation. This isn’t even Art of the Deal. This is a simple customer service request. The US is literally paying El Salvador for a service. All the US has to do is say, “release this guy and we’ll even provide a plane”. Trump is supposed to be this ubermensch business savant, FFS. Surely he’s capable of doing something here. He just doesn’t want to, and this keeps people talking about this (but not really because the headlines are “Trump can’t force Abrego Garcia’s release” rather than “Trump is defying SCOTUS orders” or “Trump says he wants to ship US citizens to concentration camps”). This is a great smokescreen for all the other horrible shit he’s “effectuating” and “facilitating”, as nobody’s talking about all the horrible shit DOGE or his cabinet secretaries are doing right now as well.

These days it’s “if you press them too closely” … “they will call you anti-Semetic and the Trump administration will try to destroy you”

Exactly. And it’s also a great excuse, for the corporate media cowards to avoid discussing and informing us about what’s happening, that is, the overthrow of our democracy by vile, cruel, murderous thugs.
